BCS Bowl Projections 2012: Predicting the Fallout from LSU vs. Alabama

Randy ChambersNov 7, 2011

Week 10 has come and left the college football season but it didn't leave without making the BCS picture a little more clearer. It gave us the winner of the Alabama-LSU game as the Tigers will likely take one spot up in the National Championship. There are now several other teams that are making their push for the remaining spots in the BCS games.

But if college football has shown us anything, it's that, just when you think you've figured it out everything changes.

Here are the projections for all five of the BCS Bowl games after Week 10.

Rose Bowl: Wisconsin Badgers vs. Oregon Ducks

1 of 5

How did I get this matchup: The Badgers should win the remaining of their games and will likely get help from Nebraska and Ohio State. The Oregon Ducks are probably going to get this bowl game whether they win or lose against Stanford.

If you didn't enjoy the Alabama-LSU game because you love offense, this would be the game for you. Both teams put up a ton of points, and it could be, the team that has the ball last will win the game.

The over or under in this game could be in the 70s.

Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma State Cowboys vs. Stanford Cardinal

2 of 5

How did I get this matchup: Oklahoma State would get this bowl because of a loss to Oklahoma at the end of the season. While Stanford will settle for the Fiesta even though they will likely run the table this year.

This game features a ton of NFL talent including Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck and Oklahoma State wide receiver Justin Blackmon. This could be another shootout like the Rose Bowl, but Stanford is capable of getting stops when needed.

This game will probably come down to the quarterback play between Andrew Luck and Brandon Weeden.

Sugar Bowl: Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Boise State Broncos

3 of 5

How did I get this matchup: Alabama lost to LSU and will have to settle for the next best thing in the Sugar Bowl. If the BCS Poll showed us anything this week, it's that Boise State has almost no chance of reaching the national championship.

Alabama could very well end up in a rematch with LSU for the national championship, but we'll get to that later. Although the Crimson Tide may not be happy with this game, Boise State should take advantage of it and try to prove to the world that they are a program that's "for real."

Orange Bowl: Cincinnati Bearcats vs. Clemson Tigers

4 of 5

How did I get this matchup: Cincinnati will win the Big East and Clemson should win the ACC title although Virginia Tech may have something to say about that. As of right now, you have to believe in Clemson until they give you a reason not to.

Everybody knows about the Tigers and their high-scoring offense, but very few know anything about the Bearcats as they have reached a 7-1 record very quietly. This could be a good matchup as both teams put up points, but I'm worried about the lack of competition Cincinnati has played heading into this game.

National Championship: LSU Tigers vs Oklahoma Sooners

5 of 5

How did I get this matchup: Although LSU still has two tough games left, you have to assume they'll win out. If Oklahoma runs the table they'll reach the National Championship. The Sooners would cancel out Oklahoma State and the strength of schedule would be more impressive than Stanford, Alabama and of course Boise State.

Oklahoma may feel the effect of the Ryan Broyles injury in this game but they still have a ton of offensive weapons to keep the Tigers defense honest. This would be an awesome chess match between two great coaches and the Sooners offense against the Tigers defense. Let's not forget that the Sooners have a solid defense as well though.

With all of the possibilities of a National Championship, you can't go wrong with a matchup like this.
