BCS Standings: Boise State-Stanford BCS Matchup Could Be Conspiracy in Making

Mick AkersNov 6, 2011

As the BCS system often sets up, a possible conspiracy could be brewing with a possible matchup between an undefeated Boise State and an undefeated Stanford on the horizon.

This would be the easiest way for the BCS brass to keep the two undefeated teams from crashing the BCS title game.

It also would help keep people guessing whether or not either of the two teams could take on and beat the so-called "big boys" of college football.

It would be a move that is eerily similar to the scenario we saw back in 2010 when an undefeated Boise State took on undefeated TCU in the Fiesta Bowl.

Questions persisted all year about how those teams would do against the power conferences, and that 2010 game put two BCS crashers against each other instead of against BCS powers, keeping fans wondering how the two programs would stack up against the top teams.

We have a very similar scenario here. Although Stanford is from an automatic qualifying conference in the Pac-12, there still have been questions all year surrounding their schedule and how they would do against a team in the SEC, Big 12 or Big 10.

It would be the ultimate joke the BCS could play on the public to let the two teams that have had doubts surrounding their schedules all year just meet each other, leaving more questions than answers after the outcome of the game once again.

This is a very real option for the BCS. Don't be surprised if we end up with a game between what could be two of the three undefeated teams left this season against each other, instead of against the very teams everyone wants to see Boise State and Stanford prove themselves by playing.
