LSU vs. Alabama: Jarrett Lee's Performance Will Catapult Tigers to BCS Title
In today's super showdown between LSU and Alabama, quarterback Jarrett Lee will ensure that the Tigers punch their ticket to the BCS title game.
It's no secret that these two teams are incredibly evenly matched in just about all facets of the game. They have the two best defenses in the country . Alabama has the nation's best running back in Trent Richardson, but LSU's duo of Spencer Ware and Michael Ford can dominate as well. And both teams are excellent on special teams.
That means this one will likely be decided by quarterback play, and I trust Jarrett Lee more than I trust A.J. McCarron.
Since being named the starter in Week 1, Lee has done exactly what the Tigers have needed: that is, with their defense and running game, LSU just needs an efficient quarterback that won't screw up too much.
Lee has been absolutely perfect filling that role.
His stat line hasn't been overly impressive in any game this season and that won't change against Alabama. He's thrown for 200 yards just once this season and only has three games with multiple touchdown passes.
But efficiency is what LSU needs and that is exactly what Lee provides.
His completion percentage has been 70 percent or better five times this season, including Week 2, when he completed nine of 10 passes. His quarterback rating has dipped below 100 in just one game, the season opener against Oregon.
And most importantly, Lee has only thrown one interception in eight games this year.
Against Alabama, Lee will continue his efficient ways. His stats won't blow you away, but he'll take care of the ball and make a couple big throws to keep the defense honest.
With another safe performance from Lee, expect the Tigers will beat Alabama and find themselves in prime position for the BCS title game.
