Kansas State vs Oklahoma State: Wildcats' Misery Will Continue vs. Cowboys

Michael DixonNov 3, 2011

The first seven games of Kansas State's 2011 season were great, as the Wildcats went 7-0. Their first half against Oklahoma was fine, as they only trailed 23-17 at halftime versus the Sooners.

Then, Oklahoma hit Kansas State with several knockout punches. The Sooners outscored Kansas State 35-0 in the second half en route to a 58-17 blowout.

Unfortunately for the Wildcats, the next four quarters won't be any better for them.

Landry Jones threw for 500 yards. Ryan Broyles and Kenny Stills each had 100 or more yards receiving.

I don't know if Brandon Weeden will throw for the kind of yards Jones hit, but Joseph Randle and Jeremy Smith are a dangerous duo of running backs and Justin Blackmon is arguably the best receiver in the country.

If Kansas State couldn't do anything to stop Oklahoma at home over two quarters, what chance does it have of going on the road and doing anything to contain Oklahoma State?

Sure, anything can happen from week to week, but this is a terrible matchup for the once-promising Wildcats.

Oklahoma State does have a tendency to allow a lot of points, but even that's misleading. A lot of those points are scored in mop-up time or against the second-team defense.

Now, I am not saying that the Wildcats will be shut out on Saturday, I don't believe that. However, they won't score anywhere near enough. This will be another blowout loss for the Wildcats, and another dominant win for Oklahoma State.

I will say there is nothing for Kansas State to hang its head about. Oklahoma State is in a great position to play against LSU or Alabama in the national championship.

But while the Wildcats won't have anything to hand their heads about, it doesn't change the results of this game.

Kansas State will be another casualty of a dominant Oklahoma State team.
