Dolphins vs. Chiefs: TV Schedule, Live Streaming, Radio, Game Time and More

Mike ChiariNov 2, 2011

The 4-3 Kansas City Chiefs will host the 0-7 Miami Dolphins on Sunday in a game between two teams headed in different directions.

After losing three straight to open the season, the Chiefs have bounced back with four consecutive wins, while the Dolphins are searching for their first.

Kansas City validated its improbable turnaround on Monday night by defeating the San Diego Chargers in overtime.

The win gave the Chiefs a share of the AFC West lead as they are currently tied at 4-3 with the Chargers and the Oakland Raiders, both of whom they have beaten.

The Dolphins have struggled all season long and suffered through a heart-breaking loss to the New York Giants last week, as they blew a late-game lead.

Matt Moore hasn't given Miami much of a spark at quarterback since Chad Henne was lost for the season, and the defense has been a huge issue as well.

This is ultimately a game the Chiefs should and need to win in front of a raucous home crowd, but facing a winless team is always dangerous.

Just as they did last week, the Dolphins are sure to give it their all in an attempt to finally put one in the win column.

What's at Stake?

Seeing as the Chiefs are in an incredibly tight, three-team race in the AFC West, each and every game is of the essence. This is especially true of home games against inferior opponents.

It's true that any team can win in any give week in the NFL, but the Chiefs know that this is a game they absolutely have to have to keep momentum rolling.

As for Miami, nothing more than pride is on the line at this point.

While Dolphins' fans are probably rooting for their team to lose in an effort to get the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft and select Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck, Miami's players aren't simply going to lay down.

They certainly don't want to have a winless season, so every game will be a must-win in the Dolphins' eyes.

Fantasy Start 'Em, Sit 'Em and Sleeper

Start 'Em: KC QB Matt CasselChiefs quarterback Matt Cassel has been fairly inconsistent this season, but has played much better of late during Kansas City's hot streak. He has the ability to put up a three- or four-score games, and against the Dolphins' porous secondary, I think he'll do just that on Sunday.

Sit 'Em: MIA WR Brandon Marshall—There is no question that Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall is Matt Moore's main target, but he may find open space hard to come by this weekend. Marshall figures to be blanketed by Brandon Flowers, who is one of the fastest-rising cover corners in the league.

Seeing as Marshall hasn't been finding the endzone with regularity, his upside is limited.

Sleeper: KC WR Jon Baldwin—While Dwayne Bowe is still the best Kansas City wide receiver to start this week, rookie Jon Baldwin could have a surprisingly good game.

Baldwin has only played in two games this season since returning from injury, and he made his presence known last week against San Diego. He could do some real damage against single coverage on Sunday.

What They're Saying

While an 0-7 start is certainly nothing to write home about, the Miami Dolphins have been able to draw some positives from this seemingly lost season.

The play of many rookies including offensive linemen Jimmy Wilson and Mike Pouncey has been very encouraging, according to Manny Navarro of the Miami Herald.

"

“Nobody on this team is a loser or has a loser mentality,” said Wilson, who along with center and first-round pick Mike Pouncey are the only Dolphins rookies to see action in all seven games.

“We’re all competitive guys. We don’t like to lose. I played at the University of Montana. We were a I-AA powerhouse. We won a lot. Even when you lose, you still take the positives and build off that. It’s all part of growing.”

"

As the Kansas City Chiefs enter Sunday's game against Miami riding a four-game losing streak, the fact the Dolphins are a very dangerous team certainly isn't lost on head coach Todd Haley or the rest of the team, according to Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star.

"

“We really already started with it (Monday night after the game),” Haley said Tuesday. “I told them I wish they had the normal 24 hours to enjoy it because we really don’t. We’re on a short week. We’re already behind. They understood. That’s the first step. Once they get in here, they’ll get the message full force.

“This is life in the NFL. You play big game after big game, especially after you limited your margin of error to nothing. You’ve got to go forward and play your best football each week.”

"

Dolphins Player to Watch: RB Reggie Bush

Although running back Reggie Bush hasn't exactly worked out as a feature back as the Dolphins planned, he has done a better job in terms of being a running back this season than he ever has.

Rookie Daniel Thomas had begun to get the lion's share of the carries, but a nagging hamstring injury has made Bush the focal point of the offense once again.

While his receptions are way down from where they were when he was with the New Orleans Saints, Bush is running the ball much more effectively.

Bush picked up over 100 yards on just 15 carries against the Giants last week, so if the Dolphins can get him somewhere around 20 total touches against Kansas City, he can really do some damage.

Chiefs Player to Watch: WR Jon Baldwin

At this point everyone knows about Bowe, Cassel and the Kansas City running game, but the X-factor on offense may be rookie receiver Jon Baldwin. The first-year man out of Pittsburgh missed the first five games of the season, but he had his coming out party last week against the Chargers.

Baldwin's size and big-play ability make him a matchup nightmare and gives opposing defenses someone other than Bowe to worry about. Miami has been susceptible to give up plays down field this season, so Baldwin could be a major player in Sunday's game.

Key Matchup: WR Brandon Marshall vs. CB Brandon Flowers

In a game comprised of a number of one-on-one matchups, perhaps no matchup is more compelling than when an elite wide receiver faces off against an elite cornerback.

That will be the case this weekend when Miami's Marshall works to get open against Kansas City's Flowers.

Flowers has rapidly developed over the past couple seasons and is now one of the NFL's premier cover men. Marshall was able to have a decent game against the New York Jets a couple weeks ago despite facing Darrelle Revis, but Revis didn't cover him exclusively.

I think Marshall vs. Flowers will be an all-night affair, and the winner of the battle could ultimately determine the winner of the game.

On the Hot Seat: Dolphins Coach Tony Sparano

While it's been said that Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano will remain with the team for the time being, it has become quite obvious that he is a lame-duck coach with no future with the Dolphins. Because of that, the organization is under no obligation to keep him.

If things get bad enough and the losses continue to mount, then I could see Sparano being fired soon. A win over Kansas City would likely bide Sparano a little more time before his inevitable dismissal following the season.
