Florida Football: 5 Reasons Gators Will Bounce Back from 4-Game Skid
The Florida Gators have been in a downward spiral as of late. They've lost four games in a row with the recent loss of Georgia stinging the most perhaps.
They've had a rough schedule during that four-game stretch and some even rougher losses. The blowout losses to Alabama and LSU were expected but the Gators have been more competitive as of late.
Even though things may look bleak for Gators fans now, there's hope that the team can recover and end the season on a positive note.
5. The Schedule
1 of 5Luckily the Gators have a pretty favorable schedule ahead.
Saturday's game against Vanderbilt won't be easy but UF is at home, which will surely help their cause.
Following the Vandy game, the Gators go on the road for a rivalry game with South Carolina (who look lost without Marcus Lattimore) and finish at home against Furman and rival Florida State.
4. Jeff Demps Is Back
2 of 5The Gators got their X-factor back on Saturday.
Jeff Demps finally showed he was over his injury concerns by returning a kick 99 yards for a TD. He also had a 72-yard reception.
Other than these two plays, Demps was pretty much held in check but it's promising to know Demps still has the speed and talent to make a big play or two when the Gators need it.
3. Florida Was Actually in Control on Saturday
3 of 5Florida was winning the game up until late in the second quarter.
The Gators were up 17-3 until two turnovers allowed Georgia back in the game. Considering the lack of production in their previous three games, it has to be a good sign for Gators fans that they were not only competitive in the game, but also leading as well.
If they hadn't turned the ball over we might be talking about how the Gators had already turned things around.
2. The Special Teams Looked Special
4 of 5The special teams play on Saturday gave the Gators some excellent field position at times. They had a kickoff return for a TD and also responded to a Georgia score with a 63-yard return that allowed the UF offense to put up three points.
It always helps to have a short field and if the special teams play can keep this up, the Gators offense will be able to find the end zone a lot easier.
1. John Brantley Is Back
5 of 5Senior John Brantley made his return from a bad injury on Saturday.
For one half of play Brantley was on fire. He showed fans that he's past his ankle injury and looked solid up until the second half.
More a result of poor offensive line play, Brantley struggled to get anything going in the second half and only completed two passes. The Gators need to protect their signal-caller better in future games because having Brantley under center gives them the best chance to win.
