Why Not Give It a Shot? Write Your Thoughts for Others to See!
In the relatively short time I've been on Bleacherreport.com, I've read some wonderful posts by people who would hardly think of themselves as writers. Their thoughts were insightful, thought-provoking, and sometimes heartwarming. I enjoyed them as much as the "pros."
With a little down time coming for all of us and the excitement of bowl games coming up, now would be the time to tell us what your thoughts are on sports, your university, or your favorite team, player, or coach.
Tell us what it's like for you. Where you live. Why it's different from what you've read about other places. Tell a favorite memory, an unforgettable person, or who started your love of sports.
Out of all the stories I've read—hundreds of them—only one was I truly disappointed with, mainly because it was so long and I vowed to edit the dozens of mistakes. (It took me three times longer to edit as to write anything I've ever posted here.)
But when I finished, I had a real sense of accomplishment, and the author and I learned a lot about writing from that shared experience. No one here is perfect. Even the pros take turns editing each other's work, so that by the time you see it, it only looks to be perfect.
We're waiting for your work too. Imagine the fun of telling a friend or relative to read your latest "article." I started with the enjoyment of doing it and have now been on various websites such as Fox Sports, CBS Sports, ESPN, and more.
Not only will you share your thoughts with all of us, but you never know where the experience could lead, what impact it might have on others, or how it help you become a better writer for your work, pleasure, or more.
My Christmas wish is to hear from you and read your articles. Sure, we need readers just like we need writers, but try being both. I'll bet you won't be sorry you gave it a shot. Happy Holidays!
