BCS Rankings 2011: Predictions for Week 10 BCS Top 25

Ian BergOct 29, 2011

The top of the BCS rankings were expected to stay the same after this week. There weren’t a lot of contests that pitted top 10 teams against one another but there were a few trap games that were tossed throughout the day.

The parity of college football was more than apparent however as plenty of upsets were abound throughout the day. As the games wore on, numerous undefeated teams were struggling to stay that way. Teams expected to contend in their conference lost games they shouldn’t.

Kansas State, ranked No. 8 when starting the day, was the first undefeated to lose. They faced No. 9 Oklahoma at home and the Sooners followed their loss with a big win over the Wildcats. Kansas State simply looked overmatched from the first snap.

Michigan State, ranked No. 11, looked to be making inroads back into the Top 10 of the BCS and most likely would have found themselves there with a win over No. 14 Nebraska. The Cornhuskers had other plans however as they took the Spartans to the woodshed early on Saturday.

Oklahoma State, ranked No. 3, was the highest ranked active team and looked to be facing a trap game in Baylor. The Cowboys didn’t fall for the hype however dismantling the Bears and proving their worth to the top five.

Clemson, ranked No. 5 on Saturday, traveled to Atlanta to face the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets expecting to earn another victory as the march to an undefeated season. The Yellow Jackets had other plans. Georgia Tech barely attempted a pass as they didn’t need to. Clemson managed to throw away this chance as most expected.

Stanford took their No. 6 ranking to USC for their first big time game of the season. Only USC and No. 7 Oregon remain on the schedule for the Cardinal. Stanford played well and barely escaped with a win after three overtime periods.
