BCS Rankings: Penn State and Teams Not Getting Enough Respect
Every week when the BCS Rankings are released, their is an uproar from fans complaining about teams being overrated and underrated. The system used in the rankings is very flawed in the eyes of many college football fans.
However, it's the system that is used and everyone has to deal with it. That won't stop us from complaining about all the problems we have with it.
Here are three teams that are not getting enough respect in the BCS Rankings.
No. 14 Nebraska Cornhuskers
Earlier in the season, Nebraska had some problems on the defensive side of the ball. It was one of the keys in their loss to a very talented Wisconsin team.
Now, it looks like the Cornhuskers have cleared up that problem and could be the best team in the Big Ten.
How they are ranked behind teams like Virginia Tech and Arkansas is mind boggling.
It seems like the Big Ten is getting little respect in the BCS Rankings this year.
No. 17 Houston Cougars
Could the Houston Cougars really be the new Boise State Broncos?
Houston is now 8-0 after another absolutely dominating victory this weekend against competition not even close to being on the Cougars' level.
I don't care who they are playing, this team deserves respect for the way they are dismantling opponents.
They beat East Carolina 56-3. They beat Marshall 63-28. They beat Rice 73-34.
What more do you want from them? They don't get a chance to play the big dogs so they are beating on the little guys.
No. 19 Penn State Nittany Lions
Penn State currently has one of the best records in college football sitting at 8-1.
Every opponent, excluding No. 2 ranked Alabama, that has been put in front of the Nittany Lions they have beaten.
I'm not saying the wins were pretty, but they were wins nonetheless.
Why is it that a team like Virginia Tech can win in such ugly fashion yet still be praised?
Penn State has next weekend off before they face the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Maybe the winner of that game will start getting a little more respect.
