Yoosof Farah's Top Five EPL Goals: Matchday 16

Yoosof FarahDec 10, 2008

Here are my top five goals from matchday 16 of the Barclay's Premier League:

5) Jimmy Bullard - Fulham

An important player for Fulham, who is capable of scoring fantastic goals when it is needed most. This wonderful goal from Bullard was the equaliser at Craven Cottage, as Fulham came from behind to draw 1-1 with Manchester City.

Bullard started the move in his own half, and continued his run into the box where he latched onto Bobby Zamora's astute pass and drilled home a powerful shot, one that was too hot to handle for City keeper Joe Hart.

4) Anderson Deco - Chelsea

His last goal was a spectacular free-kick against Wigan Athletic. But that was back in August, and in football four months is a long time, so of course we were owed a goal from Deco.

And of course, in typical Deco fashion, that is what he gave us. And in what an emphatic style he did. After being teed up by Michael Ballack's cushion header, the Portuguese playmaker acrobatically hit a superb scissor-kick into the corner, emphatically doubling Chelsea's lead against Bolton.

3) Peter Crouch - Portsmouth

It might've taken a slight deflection off Abdoulaye Meite, but Peter Crouch's goal was a magnificent strike, and fully deserves to be on my list.

Crouch has shown to Fabio Capello that he is not only capable of scoring goals, but good ones at that. After receiving the ball just outside the box, the England striker caught the West Brom defence by surprise, and from 25-yards out unleased a fantastic dipping shot that Scott Carson was simply unable to save.

2) Jamie O'Hara - Tottenham Hotspur

It was a fantastic goal by O'Hara, capping off a great counter-attack after a superb double-save from Heurelho Gomes. Great all-round play by Spurs to cap off a good game and a decent win.

My mate Chris Smith won't be happy his beloved Hammers lost, but watching his team losing after making the effort to travel up to Upton Park, his woes were probably compounded when he saw Jamie O'Hara's magnificent shot from 20 yards fly past the helpless Robert Green in the final minute of the game.

Chris may be upset his Hammers lost, but at least he can take away from the game that he saw Jamie O'Hara score one of the best goals he will ever score in his career.

1) Steve Sidwell - Aston Villa

Sidwell's truly brilliant goal right from the start was a sign of things to come. We would witness a truly great game, a fantastic advertisement for the EPL. It was definitely a game of extremes, and there were probably quite a few fans who get here late, missed the best goal in the EPL that weekend, and then probably went early, missing Everton's equaliser and Villa's winner.

But for the people who got there on time, they only had to wait 34 seconds to see the best goal that weekend in the EPL, and the one of the best Sidwell will ever score.

After being set up by James Milner, Sidwellwho in my opinion should be a regular in the England squad, let alone Villa'ssmashed an absolutely ferocious drive from 20-yards out, one that flew into the top corner, well out of reach for Tim Howard, who couldn't (and probably wouldn't have wanted to) save it.

So there you have it from matchday 16 in the Barclay's Premier League; five fantastic goals and one distraught Hammers fan.
