MLS: Lessons Well Learned for Los Angeles Galaxy in 3-1 Defeat to Houston Dynamo
Of all the people that auditioned on Sunday night for Bruce Arena's Los Angeles Galaxy against Dominic Kinnear's Houston Dynamo, there was one person who passed the audition.
His name? Jack McBean, a Home Grown Player that also plies his trade with the Galaxy Academy Under-18 side in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy.
Even though the outcome was no longer in doubt, a pass from Chad Barrett found the 16-year old rookie, who slammed one past Dynamo goalkeeper Tally Hall. The goal was enough consolation in what was a comprehensive 3-1 victory for the Dynamo over a weakened Galaxy side that did not need a win, nor a draw.

McBean, due to his family roots, is eligible to suit up for the Tartan Army of Scotland. If McBean can produce a little more, the scouts from Glasgow and Edinburgh may want to take a look at the Galaxy forward of the future.
Christmas is not for another few months, but this was the gift the Men in Orange needed for their final regular season game at Robertson Stadium before their new pitch is erected for next season.
One thing is for sure: Donovan Ricketts is not going to be starting in the playoffs any time soon. The Big Cat from Montego Bay lost his meow early and often, surrending the most laughable of goals in the 48th minute by Bobby Boswell, to the most impressive of shots from Adam Moffat in the 27th minute of play.
Of course, Honduran international Carlo Costly put the game out of reach in the 74th minute, but that's a different story.
And another thing is certain: the young guns on the pitch—McBean, Dan Keat, Ryan Thomas and Hector Jimenez—need some seasoning before they are ready to deliver.
But with McBean becoming the youngest Galaxy player to score in a league contest, there is at least one that has a heads-up.
Also, Sean Franklin made his return from injury, subbing in. The question for the team's Humanitarian of the Year is whether or not he is capable to play a full 90 minutes. The Galaxy have a number of days to evaluate Franklin's readiness, but the early indications suggest that it's not an all-go just yet.
As for Dasan Robinson, he held his own in the back line. However, A.J. De La Garza and Omar Gonzalez are starters in defense for a reason, and Robinson will be on standby for the playoffs.
Not very often you see DeLaGarza don the captain's armband, but once Jovan Kirovski was subbed out, his leadership ability was put to the test. Well, at least it did amount to a goal in a losing effort, so that can count as progress.
With the regular season out of the way, now is the time where the big guns return for a curtain call. One aggregate win combined with two more equals an Anschutz to lift in a facility owned by the Anschutz Entertainment Group in late November.
While the kids have had their fun in the limelight, it's all about business. Step aside, and let the veterans take over.
