BCS Standings: Boise State Broncos and 3 Most Overrated Teams
The current BCS rankings for Week 9 have now been released, as teams like the Boise State Broncos move up to No. 4 despite putting together a poor performance to say the least in Week 8.
There are certainly those teams that deserve their rankings and recognition in the standings, yet the Broncos are one of those teams which the ranking is deceiving, as is the case for several teams heading into Week 9.
Here are the Boise State Broncos and the three most overrated teams in college football based on the BCS rankings for Week 9.
No. 3: Boise State Broncos (7-0, 2-0 MWC)
After a disappointing performance in Week 8 against a significantly weaker Air Force team, the No. 4 Broncos still move up a spot in the current BCS rankings.
Just edging out the Falcons in a 37-26 win is just one reason why this team is not deserving of it's No. 4 rank. The only quality team the Broncos have faced all season was a No.19 Georgia team in a Week 1 matchup to open the season.
Outside of that win, the Broncos have yet to prove their worth as a top-five team in nation. Not to mention their poor performance against Air Force came at home. You can bet if a team like LSU or Alabama takes on Air Force, it would be a different story.
No. 2: Virginia Tech Hokies (7-1, 3-1 ACC)
The Virginia Tech Hokies have been getting wins and playing top-notch defense, yet are in no way a team deserving of a No.11 rank.
This puts the Hokies ahead of Wisconsin, South Carolina and Nebraska, three teams that likely give the Hokies a loss more likely than not.
With a 23-3 loss to the Clemson Tigers in their one game against a top-25 opponent, there is certainly much doubt that goes along with this No.11 team. Do the numbers really warrant a No.11 ranking for this team?
No.1: Oklahoma State Cowboys (7-0, 4-0 Big 12)
Without a doubt, if there is a team that stands out more than any as an overrated team, it is the Cowboys of Oklahoma State.
Highlights of this team's season include a one-point win over former No.8 Texas A&M and a 12-point win over a No.22 Texas team.
Are these wins impressive? Certainly. Are they top-three in the nation impressive? Not a chance.
With a game coming up against No.9 Oklahoma to close out the year, don't be surprised if the Cowboys find themselves on the losing-end when it's all said and done.
