BCS Rankings: Stanford Cardinal and 3 Teams Destined to Get Screwed

Austin GreenOct 23, 2011

This season's second BCS poll will be announced shortly and, as always, there will be a few teams that get the shaft. Here are three teams that will get screwed over when the rankings are revealed.

No. 8 Stanford Cardinal

Stanford has the best quarterback in the nation and a running game that just embarrassed No. 25 Washington on Saturday.

The Cardinal's rushing attack was remarkably balanced and effective against the Huskies.

Stepfan Taylor had 10 carries for 138 yards and a touchdown. Tyler Gaffney went for 117 yards and a touchdown on just 9 attempts. And Anthony Wilkerson got 14 carries, rushing for 93 yards and two scores.

All in all, Stanford racked up 446 yards and 5 touchdowns on the ground, averaging 10.1 yards per carry.

Stanford has the nation's second highest scoring offense (48.6 ppg) and are fourth in points allowed per game (12.6).

The Cardinal should be in the top five, but they will likely find themselves sitting at No. 6 this week, behind the less deserving Boise State.

No. 11 Kansas State Wildcats

The Wildcats spanked Kansas 59-21 on Saturday to improve to 7-0.

They will likely move into the top ten after sixth ranked Wisconsin's last-second loss to Michigan State.

However, they will still be ranked behind Oregon and Arkansas, both of whom have one loss. Both teams lost to elite opponents (LSU and Alabama, respectively) but the undefeated Wildcats deserve to be ahead of any teams with blemished records.

No. 19 Houston Cougars

The Cougars improved to 7-0 on Sunday, but won't get any BCS respect because they play in the Conference USA.

Houston likely won't sniff the top ten this year, which is a shame.

They have the best passing attack in the nation, averaging 441.7 yards per game. They also put up a ridiculous 49.3 points per game.

Unfortunately, their weak schedule will screw them over.
