BCS Rankings: USC Trojans and More Teams About to Crack the Top 25
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Illinois Fighting Illini and Washington Huskies are all likely to fall out of the BCS Top 25 after losses on Saturday, so who will take their spot when the new rankings are announced tonight?
Here's a look at three teams who will likely hop into the Top 25.
USC Trojans (6-1)
The Trojans looked awfully mediocre when they started the season against Minnesota and Utah.
After a loss to Arizona State, however, they seemed to wake up. They've won three in a row now including two road wins. Besides a shootout win over Arizona, the Trojans' defense has looked stellar and they showed that last night in the 31-17 win at Notre Dame.
Still though, their real strengths are on offense. The Trojans are averaging over 30 points per game and the Matt Barkley-Robert Woods connection looks absolutely unstoppable.
USC has yet to play a ranked team, but a 6-1 record from a Pac-12 team and a nice win at Notre Dame should be enough to get them in the Top 25.
We'll see if they are for real next week when they host the always-dangerous Stanford.
Texas Tech Red Raiders (5-2)
After starting the season 4-0, Texas Tech disappointed with two home losses against Texas A&M and Kansas State.
They, of course, respond with a huge road win at No. 3 Oklahoma that is sure to propel them into the Top 25.
Their two losses came by five and seven points, so this team could easily be sitting at 7-0 right now. The offense is clicking on all cylinders but the defense still has some work to do.
If you watch Texas Tech, you at least know you'll be seeing an exciting game.
Georgia Bulldogs (5-2)
The Bulldogs might just benefit from a bye this week as a lot of teams above them have lost.
Georgia is currently ranked No. 24 in the AP Poll and as a result can't be too far out of the BCS Top 25.
The fact that they are in the SEC and have now won five in a row should go a long way in putting the Bulldogs back into the Top 25.
