St. Louis Rams: 4 Players Who Need to Breakout This Season
The St. Louis Rams have 10 games left in their 2011 campaign. With games against the Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals, two against the Arizona Cardinals, and two against the Seattle Seahawks, the Rams could tally some wins
Two Rams players that don't need to improve their play: Sam Bradford and James Laurinaitis. They will get better as the players around them get better. Bradford's numbers will improve if his receivers improve their play. Laurinaitis will make more tackles if the defensive line and secondary plays betters. It all meshes together.
In order to win games there are four Rams who need to breakout during the last 10 games of this season.
Steven Jackson
1 of 4Steven Jackson needs to have a breakout rest of the season for St. Louis. Even with the move to bring in Brandon Lloyd, Jackson is still the main cog in the Rams offensive unit.
First and foremost, Jackson needs to stay healthy and avoid any further injuries in order increase his production.
Against Green Bay Jackson looked more like his old self gaining 96 yards on 18 carries. He was able to run between the tackles and gain tough yards. The Rams will be able to use this more effectively as the season goes on against lesser teams like the Bengals, Browns, Cardinals and Seahawks.
Hopefully Jackson can continue this production the rest of this season.
Brandon Lloyd
2 of 4Lloyd was limited by quarterback problems and indecision in Denver. Lloyd needs to return to his 2010 numbers when he had over 1,400 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns.
If Lloyd becomes a legitimate No. 1 pass catcher for the Rams, they will win games.
Mark Clayton
3 of 4The return of Mark Clayton to the St. Louis offense is a big deal. Clayton is set to return for the Cowboys game this upcoming Sunday.
Clayton was having a solid season in 2010 until his injury. He caught 23 passes for 306 yards and two touchdowns. He was one of rookie Sam Bradford’s favorite targets last year. He’s a veteran in his seventh year in the league.
The duo of Lloyd and Clayton will be a huge lift for the Rams’ passing game.
Justin King
4 of 4Justin King is one of the Rams’ best athletes. At cornerback King could help the Rams defense the most by becoming more of a shutdown corner on the opposing team’s best receiver.
King has one interception, one forced fumble and one sack so far this season. If King could make more big plays over the next 10 games, the Rams will find themselves on the better end of more final scores.
