BCS Rankings 2011: Wisconsin and 3 Teams That Got Shafted in First BCS Poll
The season's first BCS poll was released on Sunday and a few teams got screwed over by the computer rankings.
There's always a few injustices in every BCS poll. Here are three teams that got the shaft in this week's edition.
No. 6 Wisconsin Badgers
The Badgers have been absolutely crushing opponents and I think they deserve a place in the top five.
Wisconsin leads the nation in scoring (50.2 points per game) and are third in points allowed (9.7 per game). Simple math tells us that their average margin of victory is over 40—yes, 40—points per game. That is just ridiculous.
Wisconsin's schedule has been fairly weak, as they've only faced on top 25 team. But the Badgers made a major statement that game by spanking the Cornhuskers 48-17.
No. 7 Clemson Tigers
The Clemson Tigers have played and beaten more ranked teams than Boise State and Wisconsin combined.
Yet in the first BCS poll, the Tigers trail both of them.
Clemson took down Auburn, Florida State (which doesn't look as impressive now), and Virginia Tech in consecutive weeks.
It's a minor travesty that they are not in the top five.
No. 11 Kansas State Wildcats
The undefeated Wildcats are ranked behind Oregon and Arkansas, who both have one loss.
Kansas State's strength of schedule isn't as good as the Ducks or Razorbacks, but they haven't been playing a bunch of scrubs either.
Saturday they won a shootout with Texas Tech's high-powered offense. Junior quarterback Collin Kieth threw for 146 yards, ran for 110 more, and scored four total touchdowns.
He and his teammates should have been rewarded with a top ten spot.
