BCS Rankings 2011: There's No Way These 5 Teams Maintain Their BCS Standing
The BCS rankings made their debut on Sunday night and there wasn't too many surprises. LSU, Alabama and Oklahoma are in the top three while teams such as Wisconsin and Boise State are not far behind.
With that said, these ranking will change so there's no way some of these teams that have look good so far will be in the same spot when its all said and done.
Here's five teams that will not maintain their spot when the season ends.
Auburn: No. 20
1 of 5Auburn has played as well as can be expected, considering the Tigers lost Cam Newton and Nick Fairley. However, their schedule is brutal down the stretch, as they face LSU, Georgia and Alabama.
Gene Chizik has the Tigers playing good football, but they have to be lights when playing against teams such as LSU and the Tide. And I can't see that happening.
South Carolina: No. 14
2 of 5Marcus Lattimore is out for the season. That alone should tell you why the Gamecocks will not maintain their BCS standing. They are leading the SEC East by one game, but they have to face Arkansas next week.
If they lose and Georgia wins out, they will not make a trip to the Georgia Dome.
Also, the Gamecocks face Clemson in its regular season finale and as high-powered of an offense as the Tigers have, the Gamecocks could be in for a long second half of the regular season.
Clemson: No. 7
3 of 5Clemson is playing great, but there is going to be a time where the offense will not get going and the plays will need to be made by the defense, which has had its share of issues stopping teams.
The rest of their schedule is not that hard, but North Carolina and Georgia Tech could present challenges.
Also, Clemson is know for slipping up somewhere so until they prove otherwise, I can't see them maintain the No. 7 spot.
Oklahoma State: No. 4
4 of 5The Cowboys have had a lot of success with head coach Mike Gundy, but can really stay at No. 4 when they have to face Baylor, Kansas State and Oklahoma?
OSU, Oklahoma and Kansas State are in a three-way tie for the Big 12 lead. Something has got to give, and I think the Cowboys will lose a game or two down the stretch.
LSU: No. 1
5 of 5LSU deserves to be on top of the BCS rankings. But the SEC is always a tough league to go through unblemished, and the Tigers still have to face Auburn, Alabama and Arkansas.
This may be the best LSU team since the Tigers won the title in 2003 because they probably have the best player in the country in CB Tyrann Mathieu. But I don't see this team winning at Alabama when they play on Nov. 5.
