Alabama Football: Incredible Run That Could Win Trent Richardson the Heisman
In college football there are those defining plays that make a player go from being special to legendary. The kind of play we all talk about on Mondays. It is the kind of play that takes someone from good to great in less than 10 seconds.
Doug Flutie and the "Miracle in Miami".
The "Heisman pose" punt return of Desmond Howard against Ohio State in 1991.
Or even the 1971 punt return by Johnny Rodgers against Oklahoma.
These plays are legendary. These are all examples of the launching of a legend.
Trent Richardson might have had one of those kind of moments today against Ole Miss. This may be the play that vaults him to the front of the Heisman class.
In fact, it may have just sealed the deal.
Heisman Winning Effort by Trent Richardson
1 of 1In a game that was never close, Richardson was doing what he does best...making defenses look silly. He would finish the game with 183 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns.
However, it was his 76-yard run in the third quarter that made anyone watching say "Wow"!
He broke six tackles and made moves that caused defensive backs to appear as if they were made of jello. He cut in, out, and back around. He started, stopped and started again.
It is the kind of talent that just doesn't seem fair.
Fair or not...
Trent Richardson is on his way to be the next Heisman Award winner, and this is the play that did it.
