BCS Rankings 2011: 5 Teams Whose Schedules Are Too Easy to Take Seriously
The BCS rankings are set to come out in less than 24 hours, and as always there will be some teams in the rankings who may not deserve to be ranked as high as they are.
Some would call them pretenders. These teams may look good on the field, but that is likely because they have not really played anybody significant all year.
Here is a list of five teams whose schedules are too easy to take seriously.
Boise St.
1 of 5What is a list of teams who play weak schedules without Boise State?
The Broncos were seemingly playing a solid Georgia team. That has backfired slightly, although Georgia has come on strong as of late.
Georgia and 4-3 Toledo are the only teams they have played with a winning record. Future opponent TCU was supposed to be solid, but they have had a down year.
The Broncos may be ranked as high as five in the initial BCS rankings, but that is likely to drop if the teams behind them stay undefeated.
Stanford
2 of 5Stanford is undefeated and has looked impressive at times, but they really haven't played anybody of note.
The only ranked opponent they play all season is Oregon next month.
They have spent the better part of six weeks beating up on teams like San Jose State, Duke, Colorado and UCLA, among others.
It is really hard to tell if Stanford is for real this season.
Nebraska
3 of 5Nebraska does not have an extremely easy schedule, but the only good team they played, Wisconsin took them to the woodshed.
The Cornhuskers have looked weak at times particularly on defense and against lesser competition.
They were lucky to squeak out a win against Ohio State at home last weekend, thanks in part to an injury to Buckeyes quarterback Braxton Miller.
The Nebraska defense leaves a lot to be desired and their weak schedule still leaves many questions as to how good they really are.
Houston
4 of 5Houston is undefeated and putting points up in bunches. They average 47 per game.
They only team they have played from a BCS conference is the lowly UCLA Bruins who gave them all they could handle before falling 38-34.
The other schools include North Texas, Louisiana Tech, Georgia St, UTEP and East Carolina.
Not exactly the cream of the crop right there.
Houston could very easily run the table, finish 13-0 and nobody would really know how good they are.
Michigan
5 of 5Many people were believers of Michigan even though the only decent team they had played all season heading into today was Notre Dame.
It took four Notre Dame turnovers inside the red zone to barely lose on the road against Michigan.
The other opponents on the Michigan schedule before today's loss to Michigan State were Minnesota, Northwestern, San Diego State, Western Michigan and Eastern Michigan.
The Wolverines manage to avoid Wisconsin this season and do not have to play Penn State either.
Upcoming games against Illinois and Nebraska will show how good Michigan really is.
