BCS Rankings 2011: SEC Will Reign Supreme over Big 12
There is no doubt in my mind that the SEC is a much better conference than the Big 12, and I believe that the BCS Rankings will prove that.
It's simple, the SEC should have two of the top three teams in the country to their name in LSU and Alabama and that's really what matters.
The Big 12 can have as many teams in the Top 25 as they want, but what matters at the end of the day are the Top 5 teams because they are going to be the ones competing for the BCS championship when all is said and done.
There are just way too many cases that are favorable to pointing to the SEC's dominance over the Big 12.
I'm not discrediting Oklahoma or Oklahoma State because they are very good teams. That being said, they can't hold a candle to the best teams in the SEC.
Have you ever wondered what makes the SEC so dominant every year?
It's actually simple once you break it down.
Almost every in-conference game is against another elite team.
Teams as Vanderbilt, Kentucky or Tennessee may not be that great, but put them in another conference and they would be one of the stronger teams.
No wonder a team like LSU or Alabama is so prepared to take on the best teams in the country year-after-year. Their conference matchups include the likes of Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Auburn and South Carolina to name a few.
Compare that to the conference opponents that a team like Oklahoma must face like Iowa State, Kansas and an impressive but over hyped Texas Tech and that just about prove the point.
Finally, as if all that weren't enough, Texas A&M proved once and for all that the SEC is the dominant conference when they left the Big 12 to join them; and soon enough the rest of the big schools will follow A&M's lead, as well as Nebraska before them.
When the BCS rankings officially come out don't be surprised when the SEC is exactly where they deserve to be: right on top.
