BCS Rankings 2011: Stanford and 3 Teams That'll Fall out of Top 10 in November
The BCS rankings officially come out on Sunday. As things shake out on Saturday, we should have a clear picture of who will be ranked in the top 10.
Here's Stanford, along with three other teams that are going to have a tough time staying in the Top 10 BCS rankings come November.
Michigan
Michigan is ranked No. 10 in the USA Today Poll and head coach Brady Hoke has given them a spark in 2011 during his first year under at the helm.
He has provided the spark, toughness and belief that they can win the Big 10 conference.
However, the Wolverines' schedule has some tough games remaining. They are playing Michigan State on the road as we speak, but also have road tests at Iowa and Illinois on the horizon and host Nebraska and Ohio State in the final two games of the season.
Even though Ohio State is 3-3, anything can happen in a rivalry game.
Michigan’s opponents are a combined 18-17 in 2011. They haven’t played the toughest schedule, and they are bound to slip when they face tougher competition.
Boise State
If Boise State loses once they will immediately be dropped well below the Top 10 because of the teams they play.
Everyone thought Boise State would go undefeated last season, but Nevada had different plans. The same thing could happen again this season.
It seems unlikely looking at their schedule, but all it takes is one slip up and they are out. When Boise State is on a team's schedule, that game is their season.
Clemson
Being in the Top 10 of the BCS standings at the end of the season is a tough task to accomplish and Clemson is currently ranked No. 8 in the USA Today Poll.
The Tigers deserve all the credit in the world for being 6-0 and have a chance to continue to prove people wrong with their remaining schedule.
Clemson travels to Maryland, Georgia Tech, North Carolina State and South Carolina. Their home games are no piece of cake either with North Carolina and Wake Forest.
Although Clemson has played great in 2011, they defeated Florida State, Auburn and Virginia Tech, all teams that were overrated to start the season.
We will find out if they are for real or not later in the campaign.
Stanford
Andrew Luck and Stanford have another quality team in 2011. However, the No. 7 ranked Cardinal haven’t played anybody in 2011.
The combined records of the teams they have defeated are 11-19. Stanford has beaten up on San Jose State, Duke, Arizona, UCLA and Colorado.
Stanford will play tough home games against Washington, Oregon and Notre Dame.
Stanford isn’t as good in 2011 as they were last year, and that will show itself later in the season.
