Week 7 College Football Predictions: Which Coaches Seat Will Get the Hottest?

Randy ChambersOct 14, 2011

Being a college football head coach is a tough business to last in. It's pretty simple, if you do not win ball games for the program there's a good chance your days are numbered.

Of course some coaches have a little more leeway than others. You are on a shorter leash if you coach for Notre Dame or Alabama than if you were coaching at a school like FIU or a young team like Tennessee.

Regardless, here are some coaches that are on the hot seat entering Week 7 of the college football season.

Bsoton College Coach Frank Spaziani

1 of 3

Eagles head coach Frank Spaziani may have a week off but who knows if that is a good or bad thing.

After three bowl appearances for Boston College under Spaziani, the season is off to a brutal start. Boston College is now 1-5 with the schools only win coming against Massachusetts. They have lost to Northwestern, Duke, UCF, Wake Forest and Clemson.

It does not get any easier either. They still have to play Virginia Tech, Florida State, Miami and Notre Dame.

Spaziani's days at Boston College look to be numbered. It looks like they will not reach a bowl game for the first time since 1998.

UAB Coach Neil Callaway

2 of 3

Neil Callaway has done such a bad job at UAB that they do not even have a real picture of him. I had to find a picture of him when he was an offensive coordinator at Georgia.

Callaway has coached UAB since 2007 and it looks like this will be his last year. His best year came in 2007 when he finished with a 5-7 record.

This years team is ranked dead last in offense averaging just 11 points a game. The defense have given up 32 points a game, which gives them a ranking of 96th in the country. The defensive unit has better numbers than the offense, but it would have been impossible not to.

You can only blame the players for so long but when it's like this for four and a half seasons, the problem may be you.

Ole Miss Coach Houston Nutt

3 of 3

Ever since Jeavon Snead left Ole Miss, Houston Nutt has struggled to find a replacement for him and the team has suffered. Ole Miss is currently 2-3 and has one of the worst offenses in the entire country.

Nutt's record at Ole Miss in his three and a half years is a sub-par 24-19. It seems to get much worse as they still have to play teams like Arkansas, Alabama, Auburn and LSU.

It does not help either that four key players were suspended for this weeks game against the Crimson Tide. Not that it mattered for the scoreboards sake but any more negative light on Houston Nutt and Ole Miss does not help his case.

As the losses pile up, it looks more likely that Ole Miss will be searching for a new head coach.
