NFL Trade Rumors: 4 Dream Destinations for Brandon Lloyd Fantasy Owners
According to Mike Klis of the Denver Post, the Broncos have put WR Brandon Lloyd on the trade block:
"With the NFL trade deadline looming, the Broncos have been in talks with other teams regarding Pro Bowl receiver Brandon Lloyd, according to three NFL sources.
The Broncos are believed to be seeking anywhere from a third- to fifth-round draft pick in return. There have been 'three or four' teams who have expressed interest in Lloyd, according to a source, with Carolina and Tennessee among them.
"
So with that in mind, here are four destinations for Brandon Lloyd that his fantasy football owners would love to see.
Because as we all know, fantasy football is what most fans are thinking about when trade rumors begin to swirl.
Carolina Panthers
1 of 4Yes, the Panthers were mentioned in the introduction and they are a very good fantasy football fit for Brandon Lloyd.
Rookie QB Cam Newton is dominating with only one stud WR (Steve Smith), but he does have two solid TEs in Greg Olsen and Jeremy Shockey.
That said, adding Lloyd would only make Carolina's offense that much more prolific. Give Lloyd a prosperous QB under center and watch him feed off of Steve Smith's energy.
He'll significantly benefit from not being double covered nearly as much, if at all, and there won't be as much pressure to perform.
Throwing the ball efficiently is Carolina's best chance to win, and Lloyd opposite of Smith would arguably be the best WR duo in the NFL.
Tennessee Titans
2 of 4Yes, the other team mentioned in the introduction and another good fit.
However, the situation is quite different from that of Carolina's.
For one, the Titans are desperately seeking a No. 1 WR with Kenny Britt out; however, they have an already-established NFL QB in Matt Hasselbeck and a running game with Chris Johnson.
Now, obviously, Johnson hasn't been his normal self this season, but the addition of Lloyd will make for a more threatening passing game, thus setting up the run, and visa versa.
As for fantasy, Lloyd may not be as productive in Tennessee as Carolina, but he'll produce a lot more than what he's done in Denver so far in 2011.
Plus, it helps that the Titans are also in a weak division.
Houston Texans
3 of 4With their best player in WR Andre Johnson out, Houston is in need of a threatening target for QB Matt Schaub.
Because let's face it, neither Kevin Walter or Jacoby Jones are going to produce as the No. 1 target, and in turn that will hurt the ground game.
Obviously they'll be much better once Johnson returns, but imagine how sick that could be with Johnson and Lloyd.
Line up both opposite of one another, then have Walter and Jones as the two slot WRs and TE Owen Daniels as the most inside target.
Sure, the defense will know the pass is coming, but Walter and Jones are most effective as slots along with Daniels over the middle.
So, what's the secondary to do against a healthy Andre Johnson and Brandon Lloyd?
Pray that Schaub has less than one-third of a nanosecond to throw the ball, because they won't be stopped otherwise.
This may very well be Lloyd's best landing spot for fantasy owners, as the Texans know how to gain yards and put up points.
Arizona Cardinals
4 of 4The Arizona Cardinals may come as a bit of a surprise, because even though QB Kevin Kolb is struggling, WR Larry Fitzgerald and TE Todd Heap are two of his targets.
That being said, Arizona could be doing a lot better, and even though they have Early Doucet as another target, he's nowhere near as dangerous as Brandon Lloyd.
Putting Lloyd with the Cardinals would be similar to the situation in Houston because there's a stud WR to go with a reliable TE, as well as a solid slot man.
Only difference being the rushing attack and QB, but then again, Kolb and the Cardinals need all the help they can get.
To that end, landing in The Grand Canyon State would be a solid acquisition for the Cardinals and Lloyd's fantasy owners.
Arizona needs to establish a more threatening passing attack to set up the run, and airing it out to another receiving threat is the answer to keeping defenses honest since they're not good enough to be a run-first team.
