Standford simply wasn't kind to Washington State on Saturday, destroying the Cougars, 44-14.
Quarterback and leading Heisman candidate Andrew Luck threw for 336 yards, four touchdowns and one interception, running back Stepfan Taylor added 100 yards rushing and receiver Coby Fleener caught four balls for a whopping 128 yards and a touchdown.
No. 7 Stanford still seems ready for a BCS bowl.
UPDATE: Saturday, Oct. 15 at 10:45 p.m. EST
While Wisconsin thumped Indiana on Saturday, No. 2 Alabama was quick to dismantle Mississippi, 52-7.
Heisman candidate Trent Richardson rushed for 183 yards and four touchdowns, quarterback A.J. McCarron went 19-of-24 for 224 yards and a touchdown and safety Robert Lester picked up his first interception of the season.
Tweeted Kyle Veazey of The Commercial Appeal:
Looks like the only team in Alabama's way to the BCS Championship Game is LSU.
Nov. 5, folks. Mark your calendars.
UPDATE: Saturday, Oct. 15 at 7:00 p.m. EST
No. 4 Wisconsin was 5-0 headed into Saturday's matchup. Indiana was 1-5. The score not only ended predictably, it was a thorough beatdown.
Wisconsin won on Saturday, 59-7, getting strong offensive performances from quarterback Russell Wilson and running backs Montee Ball and James White. Ball rushed for 142 yards and three touchdowns and even tossed a 25-yard touchdown pass to Wilson.
The defense also forced three turnovers and Badgers freshman linebacker Derek Landisch recovered a Hoosiers' fumble in the end zone for the final score of the game early in the fourth quarter.
UPDATE: Saturday, Oct. 15 at 6:30 p.m. EST
Even after Michigan's and Illinois' 6-0 starts, there were still questions about whether they were contenders or pretenders.
Apparently to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, those questions have been answered:
All hate mail from Wolverines and Fighting Illini fans will now be directed at Mr. Joe Cowley.
UPDATE: Saturday, Oct. 15 at 6:22 p.m. EST
Michigan's loss at the hands of the Spartans on Saturday was a true blow to one of the Cinderella stories of this season.
The Wolverines, who were unranked coming into the season, were 6-0 coming into Saturday's matchup, with wins against Notre Dame, San Diego State and Northwestern.
But in the Wolverines' biggest test of the season, they took a step backward. The Wolverines still have a shot of entering the BCS discussion again if they win against Illinois and Nebraska down the line, but Saturday's loss undoubtedly will drop them significantly in the AP poll.
UPDATE: Saturday, Oct. 15 at 6:15 p.m. EST
No. 23 Michigan State shocked in-state rival No. 11 Michigan on Saturday, 28-14.
The Spartans' defense was able to do something no other team had done all season: contain Wolverines quarterback Denard Robinson both in the air and on the ground.
Robinson was held to just 9-of-24 passing for 123 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He also ran 18 times for just 42 yards, averaging 2.3 yards per carry.
The star on the offensive side of the ball for the Spartans was junior running back Edwin Baker, who rushed 26 times for 167 yards and a touchdown in a breakout performance.
