Andrus Peat: Latest News & Predictions for the No.1 Uncommitted OL Recruit
Andrus Peat is the top uncommitted OL recruit in the country, and by many accounts the top OL recruit in the country period.
He has a ton of offers, has taken various unofficial trips and is gong through the recruiting process deliberately.
I'm going to give you the latest scoop on Peat, who has had some interesting tid-bits of information come out in the past couple days. Let's check in on the 5-star OT prospect.
Who Is Andrus Peat?
1 of 6Peat is a heady player whom I think will be one of the types of OTs that sets his targets up two to three snaps down the line when he really gets coached up in college.
He came into this offseason at just 280 pounds, but now he is up to 300 to 305 pounds now on his 6'7" frame.
Combine added girth with great technique, set quickness, patience, balance, nimble feet, athleticism and mirror ability, and you got something. Also, Peat really plays with solid leverage and flashes a mean streak as a mauler in the run game.
No Visit to Lincoln?
2 of 6Peat was slated to be at Nebraska this past weekend on a big time official visit, but he never made it to Lincoln.
Rest assured Cornhusker fans, Peat could not make the trip due to choosing to take the SAT instead due to an academic scores deadline.
He tells Scout.com that he still will take a visit to Nebraska and looks to be in the process re-scheduling with the Cornhusker staff.
Finalists for Peat?
3 of 6Peat has had well over 30 offers on the table from every elite program you can fathom. He's been a hot name on the trail all year and has really had to go through a process of eliminating schools and naming favorites.
Now comes word that while although there are still in excess of around 14 schools that have a chance to land him, four are sticking out:
Nebraska, Stanford, Florida State and Texas.
Who's Recruiting Him the Hardest?
4 of 6According to Peat via Scout.com, he says Stanford is recruiting him the hardest with Nebraska also being very close.
However, he also mentions Florida State is also on him pretty hard among other programs. With the Cardinal on him this hard and an official trip in store in the coming months to their lovely campus, look out for The Farm.
Yet, this race isn't over by all means.
Peat's Plans
5 of 6With 13 in the previous mix for Peat, he now says it's pretty much down to eight to 10 schools at the moment, with Nebraska, Florida State, Texas and Stanford being the prime four.
However, look for Notre Dame, Michigan, USC, Oregon and a few other schools to try to make a big push for Peat.
Also, Peat also tells Scout.com that though he knows he wants to officially visit Nebraska, Florida State, Texas and Stanford, he also likely will take some unofficial visits to other schools too.
Peat Prediction
6 of 6Right now, I think if I were forced to predict where Peat ends up, I'd go with Nebraska. His brother is already there on the team and Peat has implied on various occasions that Nebraska will always be in the race until the end.
Toss in the fact that the Cornhuskers have a great tradition coaching and producing offensive linemen, and you see why maybe this could be Nebraska's race to lose.
But also, do not, repeat—do not, count out Texas and Stanford. Both schools have awesome facilities and other factors that recruits absolutely love.
