Week 6 Fantasy Football Rankings: Michael Vick and 5 Players Sure To Flop
Nothing is worse than a waste of space in your starting lineup. Sometimes avoiding this scenario means showing a big-name player the bench and inserting a surging sleeper in his place.
Be it a tough matchup, a recent slide or a worrisome injury, there are certain players you can't afford to rely on this weekend.
Here are five players who are sure to flop in Week 6.
Jahvid Best
1 of 5Jahvid Best is an animal. He's been one of the biggest steals in fantasy football thus far, but he's running into a San Francisco defense that is leading the conference in takeaways and giving up 76.4 YPG.
They completely shut down LeSean McCoy, limiting him to 18 yards on the ground. Last week, they knocked LeGarrette Blount out of the game.
Calvin Johnson is going to destroy the 49ers' secondary and Matthew Stafford may light up the defense, but Best is going to be on lockdown. He torched the Bears for 163 yards on the ground last week. Such will not be the case against a stout Patrick Willis-lead front seven.
LeGarrette Blount
2 of 5LeGarrette Blount is questionable according to ESPN. If you are going into this week planning on starting Blount, don't. It's questionable whether or not he's going to be able to play at all. If he does, you can expect to see a heavy dose of Earnest Graham.
Clearly Blount is a surefire starter every week he's healthy, but the Bucs aren't going to risk putting their feature back's season on the line with their bye coming up in a couple short weeks.
You shouldn't assume Blount's injury is going to make him a fantasy dud the rest of the season, but this week, you would be crazy to start him.
All Patriots Running Backs
3 of 5It's trendy to start Patriots running backs right now. Benjarvus Green-Ellis surpassed the 100-yard mark last week and Stevan Ridley rushed for 97 yards just two weeks ago.
The fact of the matter is, there is a strong possibility that one or both backs go MIA this week. They've both only produced one standout game and they are facing the stingiest run defense in the league.
Rob Ryan is and will continue to be the matchup to watch this week. Both of these backs are sure to disappear.
Michael Vick
4 of 5Blame the wide-nine technique, Andy Reid, the injection of new talent or DeSean Jackson's contract for Philly's inadequacy. The fact of the matter is, the ship is sinking, and Michael Vick is steering the boat.
Vick's four picks against the Bills point to just how far Vick has fallen. Some took Vick No. 1 overall, only to have all of their fears realized. Vick has been battered throughout the season and hit or miss when healthy.
The yards have been there, but so have the picks. Facing a stingy Redskins pass defense that is only allowing 212 YPG is going to give Vick fits. With six picks and four touchdowns in his last three games, it's not looking good for Vick owners this week.
Rex Grossman
5 of 5Think Rex Grossman is going to carve up the struggling Eagles? Think again. Despite their problems, the Eagles are still seventh in the league in pass defense.
The Eagles have 16 sacks on the season and though their defense isn't clicking, they are one of the best teams in the NFL at applying pressure.
Grossman threw more touchdowns than interceptions in his first outing this season and hasn't done so since. Though everyone is impressed that Grossman has been able to lead the Skins to a 4-1 record, he's still not fantasy starter material.
