Buffalo Bills: Is No News Good News for the "No Names"?

Aaron McKinneyOct 12, 2011

The Buffalo Bills are going into a rather important game for both teams against the New York Giants this week. While the Giants have their share of injuries, none of these really occurred this past week, and the Bills really didn't have any to begin with outside of the receivers' situation. This is a strangely important game for both teams, and it's drawing virtually no attention.

The Giants need this game more than the Bills do, arguably. Their loss last week to a below average Seahawks team really killed any momentum they had built up and ruined the advantage they gained when they could've won, while the rest of their division rested on the bye week or lost like the Eagles did. Now they're 3-2 and need to keep pace. Their division looks like it will be incredibly tight all season, and even if the Eagles fall out of the race, they'll still be competitive.

On the other hand, the Bills need to keep pace with the Patriots and watch their rear-view mirror for the New York Jets who are bound to break out of their slump at some point soon. They also have to now start dealing with more publicity "if" they continue to win more, and, they'll get more this week just for playing the Giants. Aside from the depleted receiving corps, the Bills are pretty healthy. People still don't care about Fred Jackson and Ryan Fitzpatrick. A win in the Big Apple would probably get a little attention, but they have a bye week next. There goes all that momentum.

What I'm saying is that the Bills better enjoy the lack of media coverage while they can because it will soon explode if they continue to win, and they should if they don't change what they're doing. This team won't be "No Names" for too much longer.
