Stephen Garcia: Twitter Reacts to Dismissal of South Carolina QB

Zachary D. RymerOct 11, 2011

College football fans have come to know and love Stephen Garcia as South Carolina's maddeningly frustrating quarterback with problems both on and off the field.

Starting today, Garcia will now be known simply as South Carolina's former quarterback.

It's true. Courtesy of a report from the school's official website, we know that Garcia has been given the boot at South Carolina. In the words of South Carolina AD Eric Hyman, Garcia failed to abide by "several established guidelines."

Well, that's about as vague as it gets when it comes to these things. That being said, those who know anything about Garcia should not be surprised.

In addition, odds are that those who know anything about Garcia are sounding off on Twitter right now. Below is a collection of some of the best and most notable tweets so far.

First and foremost, ESPN's Jenn Brown recently passed along word about what exactly got Garcia kicked off the team:

Esteemed ESPN college basketball personality Dick Vitale sums it up pretty well:

And then there's CBS Sports' Bruce Feldman, who went a little more big picture:

For those who delight in fake Twitter accounts, Peyton's Head chimed in on Garcia with a hilarious tweet:

Cecil Hurt, who covers Alabama football for the Tuscaloosa News, has other ideas about Garcia's replacement:

There's also these two tweets from Fake Dan Beebe (the guy who used to be the Big 12 commissioner):

Michael Carvell, who covers college football recruiting for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, noted that Garcia's dismissal puts Steve Spurrier's Tuesday rant in a different light:

Last but not least, Wes Rucker, a Tennessee sports radio host, is feeling sentimental:

True of us all, Wes. True of us all. Say what you will about Garcia, but we can all agree that he kept things interesting.
