College Football Picks Week 7: 5 Spreads to Go All In On
Week 7 of the college football season is upon us, and while this Saturday doesn’t feature many marquee heavyweight bouts, it’s one that should catch any true gamber's eye.
There are a ton of interesting spreads and potential plays this weekend.
Here’s a look at my five favorite picks for Week 7.
Cincinnati (-17)
1 of 6Louisville has the top-ranked defense in the Big East, but if you take a closer look at some of the offenses the Cardinals have faced so far (Murray State, Florida International, Marshall and Kentucky), it’s easy to see that the unit may not be all it's cracked up to be.
Look for Cincinnati quarterback Zach Collaros and running back Isaiah Pead to put up some big numbers on Saturday.
Washington State (+21)
2 of 6So far, Stanford has been a covering machine, going 5-0 against the number to start the season.
But three touchdowns is just too many points to lay on the road against a Washington State team that has a few more playmakers than you might think.
Yes, the Cougars’ offensive numbers are skewed because of the huge output in their first two games against Idaho State and UNLV. But this offense, led by receiver Marquess Wilson, one of the best players in the Pac-12, should be able to do enough to at least make the score reasonable.
Texas Tech (-3)
3 of 6Kansas State has been one of the biggest surprise teams of the first half of the season, but the Wildcats could have a tough time in Lubbock on Saturday.
The Red Raiders quietly sprinted out to a 4-0 record before losing to Texas A&M 45-40 last weekend.
Look for the return of emerging star receiver Darrin Moore to be a big boost to Tommy Tuberville’s team, and the Texas Tech offense should give the Wildcats all they can handle.
Virginia (+7)
4 of 6The ACC top dogs (Clemson, Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech) are all seven-point road favorites this weekend.
Hmmm.
What’s Vegas trying to tell us?
I have a feeling at least one of those three will get picked off on Saturday, and I’m getting the strong sense it will be Georgia Tech.
The Virginia defense has players up front like Cam Johnson and Matt Conrath to slow down the Yellow Jackets’ triple-option attack.
Plus, the offense has enough playmakers like Kris Burd and Perry Jones to really make things interesting.
Georgia (-12)
5 of 6Vanderbilt has played like a different team on its home field this year, going 3-0 so far, but Georgia has the obvious talent advantage in this one. If the Bulldogs play up to their potential, they shouldn’t have a problem winning by two touchdowns.
The problem is, do they have the fortitude to get the job done on the road for the second week in a row?
These days, it’s becoming increasingly dangerous to trust a Mark Richt-coached team, but if you look at the two depth charts, it’s hard not to side with Georgia.
5 Other Plays to Consider
6 of 6Connecticut (+8)
Bowling Green (+7)
Miami (+3)
Missouri (-14.5)
