BCS Rankings Projections 2011: Which Teams Will Stir Up Controversy in Top 10?
The unveiling of the BCS rankings will undoubtedly stir up college football fans all around the nation. There always seems to be some sort of controversy surrounding the BCS.
Either a team is ranked too high, too low, or somehow got snubbed, and that's just talking about the Top 25.
It get's even crazier when you start breaking down the top 10.
Of course everybody feels their team deserves to be in it, but naturally only 10 can make it. And then there is the No. 1 and all the pressure and scrutiny that comes with the ranking.
It's that time of year again, so let's take a look at my predictions for the top 10 of the BCS.
I can guarantee you that there will be a few controversial picks.
10. Arkansas
1 of 10The Razorbacks looked to be just another good team with an easy schedule to start the year, but they've really stepped up the past two weeks and shown us that they belong.
Their only loss was to Alabama, which is hard to hold against them. A big comeback win against Texas A&M and beating Auburn at home speak louder than that loss.
9. Oregon
2 of 10After watching the Ducks get manhandled on national television to start the year, I really lost all belief in them.
I don't believe they have a shot at going to another BCS championship game, but it's hard to keep them out of the top 10.
Since losing to LSU, they've beat their opponents by a total of 224-73.
8. Oklahoma State
3 of 10The Cowboys have looked good, but I'm not all that impressed with their strength of schedule.
Their biggest win came against a flawed Texas A&M team, so their matchup this week with Texas will show us a lot.
All that being said, there is no doubt they are one of the most explosive offensive teams in the country.
7. Clemson
4 of 10The Clemson Tigers are back and better than ever.
Right now, they are rolling through the ACC and are looking great doing it. They've taken out Auburn, Florida State and Virginia Tech in what was arguably the toughest stretch of their schedule.
6. Boise State
5 of 10Quarterback Kellen Moore and the Boise State Broncos seem to be unstoppable on offense.
They put up points like it's as simple as breathing, and you'd be hard-pressed to find a team that can stop them.
Once again though, they will be penalized for being in the Mountain West.
5. Wisconsin
6 of 10The Badgers are looking great and they boast arguably one of the better quarterbacks in the nation in senior Russell Wilson.
That being said, their schedule to this point has been rather vanilla. They beat on Nebraska, which really gained them respect in the Big Ten at least.
Still need to see more from Wisconsin.
4. Stanford
7 of 10The Cardinal have yet to be tested, but the team has looked awesome so far.
Andrew Luck is showing us all why he was the Heisman favorite to start the year, and I don't think he's fallen from that standing.
The schedule is going to get harder now, but I expect Luck will keep Stanford in the running for a national championship.
3. Oklahoma
8 of 10The Sooners looked great in the Red River Rivalry where they destroyed the Texas Longhorns.
That was really the first big test on their schedule though, so it's hard for me to put them any higher than No. 3.
They were very impressive, but it was the first time I could say that about them this season.
2. Alabama
9 of 10The Crimson Tide has been great so far this year. The defense is punishing and the young offense is starting to find its form behind the Heisman-esque running of Trent Richardson.
Everything for Alabama starts and ends with its defense though. It has allowed the offense to outscore their opponents 226-42, posting two shutouts.
