Andre Johnson Injury: Arian Foster Will Lead Run-Heavy Houston Texans Offense

Nicholas GossOct 9, 2011

Houston Texans star wide receiver Andre Johnson will not play Sunday against the Oakland Raiders, and without their top receiver, the Texans will likely turn to running back Arian Foster to carry much of the offensive load.

Johnson said he could be out a few weeks after he underwent a small surgery to repair his injured right hamstring. His status for the Texans game next week against the Baltimore Ravens, and possibly the week after that against the Tennessee Titans is uncertain.

Despite facing a few weeks on the sidelines, Johnson is upbeat about his ability to recover.

"If I had to pick a date, I'd give it a couple of weeks. That's just my gut feeling. I think I'm a fast healer."

"Out of any procedure I've ever had, this is probably the best I've felt," he said. "I'm pretty confident about this one. I'm pretty pumped; just can't wait to get these stitches out so I can get to rolling."

Johnson is focal point of the prolific Texans passing attack. He demands double teams which in turn leaves receiver Kevin Walter and tight end Owen Daniels with good favorable matchups. Without Johnson, the Texans pass offense is much less difficult to defend because there's no elite threat to gameplan for.

Arian Foster will carry the offensive burden for the Texans this week, and after piling up 155 rush yards and a touchdown last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers, it seems the All-Pro has recovered well from his early season hamstring injury.

Johnson will be out a few weeks it seems, but his outlook for the rest of the 2011 NFL season looks pretty good.
