Week 6 College Football Predictions: Arkansas on Upset Alert vs. Auburn

Michael MillOct 7, 2011

The race for the top spot in the college football world is slowly but surely becoming more clear.

Every weekend more unbeaten teams are knocked off. Currently, there are only 13 teams in the top-25 who are undefeated.

This weekend two highly ranked teams will face off in an SEC showdown. Both teams have one loss. Neither can afford another.

The No. 15 Auburn Tigers travel to Fayetteville to take on the No. 10 Arkansas Razorbacks.

Both teams are currently sitting at 4-1 with their losses coming against higher ranked teams.

In the college football world, one loss is enough to end a season. National Championship hopes for both these teams have been severely tarnished with the losses they have suffered early this season.

Another loss would be enough to erase all hopes.

The Razorbacks boast one of the top passing attacks in the nation. Last season, it was led by quarterback Ryan Mallet. This year it's Tyler Wilson behind center.

Wilson had his breakout game last year as a backup in Arkansas' 65-43 loss against the future National Champions at Auburn.

After Mallet went down due to injury, Wilson stepped and passed for 332 yards and four touchdowns.

Wilson has continued that type of play this season. He has thrown for 1517 yards and 10 touchdowns through the first five games of the season.

This weekend, the Razorbacks face a team that has been pushed to the wayside so far this year.

After running the table with an undefeated season and win in the National Championship game last year, the Auburn Tigers dropped tremendously in the rankings to start 2011 after losing quarterback Cam Newton.

This isn't the same potent team that it was with Newton at quarterback, but they have still stepped up to the plate and delivered in key situations.

The Tigers have pulled off upsets against No. 16 Mississippi State and, just last week, against No. 10 South Carolina.

This will be the second week in a row that Auburn will attempt to knock off a No. 10-ranked opponent.

Their only loss this season was suffered at the hands of Clemson, who remains undefeated after knocking off three ranked opponents this year.

Auburn isn't a team many people are talking about, but they have really put it together the last few weeks.

The offense is efficient behind quarterback Barrett Trotter and running back Michael Dyer. The defense has finally been coming together as a unit in recent weeks.

They will have their hands full this weekend but, if the defense steps up to the challenge, Auburn could find themselves upsetting another top-25 opponent.
