College Football Picks Week 5: Clemson and Winners of This Week's Ranked Clashes
Week 5 features four ranked matchups in what is sure to be another thrilling and telling week of college football action.
Every single spot in the Top 25 is up for debate. There are a number of teams who could argue their case for being the best team in the nation, promising dark horses lurking in the middle of the pack and bubble teams who got snubbed this week to make way for less deserving teams.
With each of these matchups bursting with conference and national championship implications, here are the four teams who will walk away winners.
No. 13 Clemson
Virginia Tech will be the third ranked opponent Clemson has taken on in three weeks. After taking down Auburn and Florida State at home, Clemson will need to prove they can win on the road.
Their offense has proven themselves week in and week out and Virginia Tech doesn't have a single signature win under their belt. Battle-tested Clemson will triumph again this week.
No. 8 Wisconsin
Wisconsin is the best team in the Big Ten. They take on No. 7 Nebraska this week and though Nebraska may have the upper hand in Lincoln, they aren't going to be able to pull off a win on the road this week.
Neither team has beaten any team worth mentioning, but the Cornhuskers and Blackshirts in particular have looked vulnerable at times during the course of this season. They can't afford a slow start or mental errors this week, but both could easily be in their immediate future.
No. 3 Alabama
Alabama is the best team in the country. They can't worry about things that are out of their control. As long as they continue to perform week in and week out, the voters will eventually recognize them as the top-notch team they are.
They take on No. 12 Florida this week in a matchup that will earn them their third win over a ranked opponent this season. Florida isn't going to have an answer for Trent Richardson, and they are going to be frustrated by a Crimson Tide defense that has allowed only eight points a game.
No. 14 Texas A&M
Texas A&M gave the game away last week against Oklahoma State. With how competitive the Big 12 is, they can't afford to sit back and lick their wounds this week. They're taking on No. 18 Arkansas, who are a week removed from a beat down at the hands of Alabama.
Texas A&M has to prove themselves all over again, and though they are away from the comfort of Kyle Field, they have the upper hand against an Arkansas team who looked atrocious against the only good team they've played all season.
