NBA Power Rankings: The Most Exciting Players in NBA Today

Jeffrey McKinneySep 28, 2011

The NBA is usually the place where excitement happens.

Although the lockout has not provided many exciting moments this summer, plenty of NBA players have been keeping busy by putting on great performances in summer basketball leagues

When the NBA season does start again, there should be no question who will pick up where they left off and make fans cheer again.

Here's a look at the NBA's most exciting players.

Carmelo Anthony

1 of 9

When it comes to Carmelo Anthony, his strength is his scoring ability.

Anthony can score from anywhere on the court and is one of the most clutch players in the NBA.

Although he isn’t the best at playing defense, Melo is one of the NBA’s best on the offensive ends.

Dwight Howard

2 of 9

Howard is the most dominant big man in the game today.

Standing nearly 7-foot, Howard is quicker than most big men his size, and has the jumping ability of a guard.

Because of this Howard is one of the most imposing players in the paint. He could also be one of the nicest as he almost always has a smile on his face.

Dwyane Wade

3 of 9

One-third of Miami’s Big Three, Wade was the leader of the team this past season.

Wade is known for his ability to put his body on the line in order to complete a difficult play above the rim.

Wade is also one of the best finishers in the league and will do almost anything to get a three point play.

Russell Westbrook

4 of 9

One of the reason’s the Thunder were so good this past season was Russell Westbrook.

Kevin Durant may have been the go-to guy, but Westbrook was not far behind averaging 21.9 points, 8.3 assists and 4.6 rebound per game last season.

What made Westbrook such an exciting player is his ability to use his quickness on fast breaks and his aggressiveness while driving in the paint.

Blake Griffin

5 of 9

After missing the entire 2009-2010 season, Blake Griffin was still eligible to be a rookie.

Griffin made a huge impact last season, winning Rookie of the Year as well as the slam dunk contest.

Along with leaving a highlight reel of posterizing dunks, Griffin had a long streak of double=double games and a couple of 40-plus point games.

Kevin Durant

6 of 9

Thanks to the NBA lockout, Durant and other NBA players have participated in summer league games.

Durant has been the main talk of the group because of his prolific scoring.

Durant has gone off for 50- and 60-plus point games, looking more unstoppable than he already was.

Durant is one of the toughest players to defend because he's a 6'9" forward who plays like a guard and has a 7.5' wingspan. .

Derrick Rose

7 of 9

There may not be anybody with as much intensity on the court yet is as quiet off of it as Derrick Rose.

At times he carried the Bulls on his back as they made it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Rose may not be the biggest guard in the league, but he has some of the most memorable drives to the hole.

What makes Rose even more exciting is he plays with the same intensity and fearlessness on both ends of the floor.

Kobe Bryant

8 of 9

Love him or hate him, Kobe is exciting to watch.

Although it looked like injuries and age were starting to catch up with him last season, Bryant proved this summer that he can put on a clutch performance on any court.

Kobe is one of the players who makes the game of basketball look simply beautiful.

When Bryant gets into assassin mode, he is the most unstoppable player on the court.

Whether it happens or not, one thing is for sure—nobody wants to win as bad as Bryant.

LeBron James

9 of 9

He may be the most hated player in the league, but LeBron James is also the most exciting.

Nobody finishes a dunk with as much power and intensity as James.

There also aren’t too many people that can do the things James can.

James is a 6’8'' forward who can pass as well as any point guard, score with the best in the league and play the best defense on any given night.
