Week 4 College Football Predictions: How Arkansas Can Upset SEC Rival Alabama
When the No. 14 Arkansas Razorbacks travel to Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday to take on the No. 3 Alabama Crimson Tide, they have an opportunity to have a season-defining win.
The SEC is the best conference in college football, and every week is important. Nothing could jump start the Razorbacks season and boost their confidence more than a big upset win on the road against a top team.
Arkansas has a good chance to upset Alabama, and that starts with their high-powered offense led by quarterback Tyler Wilson.
Wilson has thrown for 822 yards with five touchdowns this season, and helped the Razorbacks outscore their opponents 103-10 in the first two weeks.
Helping the Razorbacks going into Saturday's massive SEC clash is the fact they nearly beat Alabama last season, and that Crimson Tide team was better than this year's.
Arkansas had a 20-7 lead over Alabama in the second half last season, but the Crimson Tide running attack went crazy late in that game and powered them to a 24-20 victory.
Stopping the running game of Alabama will be vital for Arkansas in this game. Alabama running back duo Trent Richardson and Eddie Lacy combined for 328 rushing yards in the team's Week 3 victory over North Texas of the Sun Belt Conference, and will play a major role in the Crimson Tide's game plan Saturday.
With the confidence of knowing they can hang with Alabama and even beat them, Arkansas will be the Crimson Tide's toughest opponent of the season so far, and Alabama players know they'll get the Razorbacks best shot Saturday.
""It's huge," Alabama center William Vlachos said via CBS Sports. "We know how good they are. Everybody remembers the battle they gave us last year at their place.
"We are expecting them to be even better and coming with it."
"
The keys for Arkansas are too stop the rushing attack of Alabama, and run the ball well themselves. The Razorback passing game is also better than the Crimson Tide's, and not turning the ball over to give Alabama good field position and igniting their crowd will be keys as well.
This thrilling matchup will come down to the fourth quarter, and whichever teams wants it more will win. The talent on these teams is more similar than you think, and that will make for a very exciting SEC battle on Saturday.
