LSU Football: 3 Reasons Why Jarrett Lee & Zach Mettenberger Won’t Get It Done
The LSU Tigers headed into the season with national championship hopes, but took a blow once their starting quarterback Jordan Jefferson was suspended for a bar fight.
The Tigers are now 3-0 and still have Championship dreams, but the quarterback situation is still shaky.
Here is why Jarrett Lee and Zach Mettenberger will not be able to get it done.

LSU Runs the Ball Too Much
1 of 3Jarrett Lee and Mettenberger won't get the opportunity to get it done because the Tigers run the ball a lot.
LSU has thrown the ball a total of 70 times, but has ran the ball 131. They really only throw when they have to. It's a good game plan when you have two running backs like Spencer Ware and Michael Ford. The running backs have combined for 444 yards, average over four yards a carry and have seven touchdowns.
When you run the ball like that, who needs a quarterback?
Metternberger's Immaturity Will Cost Him Again
2 of 3There's a reason Zach Mettenberger is playing for LSU now and not Georgia anymore like you see in the picture.
That's because Mettenberger plead guilty to sexual battery after an incident in a bar. He was sentenced to 12 months of probation and 80 hours of community service and was dismissed from the team.
Just a month ago, Mettenberger admitted that defensive end Sam Montgomery and himself had guns drawn on them when they got into a fight with two men. An LSU spokesman said that the police report "indicated that Sam and Zach did nothing wrong and that they were the victims."
Regardless of what really happened, Mettenberger is a walking time bomb and always manages to get into some type of trouble. He is very talented, but at the same time, very immature.
It will cost him again at some point.
Lack of Trust Will Cost This Team at Some Point
3 of 3As mentioned in the first slide, this team runs the ball almost twice as much as they throw the ball. The passing game is ranked 98th out of 120 teams. That will catch up to them at some point.
Only for so long can you rely on your defense and running game. That worked against Oregon, Northwestern State and Mississippi State, but what about once you hit the brutal part of the SEC schedule? You're going to have to put up points to win those games. Throwing for less than 200 yards won't get it done.
The Tigers aren't always going to have the lead and will need a quarterback to lead them down the field for a crucial score. Can it happen when he has little experience doing so?
Only time will tell.
