NFL Predictions Week 3: 50 Things We're Sure Will Come to Pass

Tony SantorsaJun 7, 2018

Can you believe that it's Week 3 of the NFL season? I know that I can't—this season is going by in a flash, and before we know it, it will be the playoffs!

Before we start thinking too far ahead, let's start to focus in on this upcoming weekend, Week 3. The first two weeks ended with a few upsets, a few blowouts and just flat-out good football.

Allow me to kickoff the start to your weekend with my 50 predictions for Week 3.

Michael Vick Will Start Against the New York Giants

1 of 50

After suffering a concussion in his return to Atlanta, Michael Vick will likely start against the New York Giants this Sunday, according to Albert Breer of NFL Network.

With back-up quarterback Vince Young out with a hamstring injury, it is critical for Vick to play if the Eagles want to have any chance against the Giants.

Eli Manning Will Throw Two or More Interceptions Against the Eagles

2 of 50

Eli Manning will face off against one of the league's top secondaries, the Philadelphia Eagles.

Let's be realistic here, Manning already has two interceptions on the season, don't you think he'll end up being picked off by Nnamdi Asomugha, Asante Samuel or Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie?

I think so.

The Eagles Will Knock out the Giants

3 of 50

I know this is going to upset a whole lot of New York Giants fans, but you have to admit that the Philadelphia Eagles are a much better team than the Giants—at least on paper.

If Michael Vick does play and he's effective, I don't see why the Eagles wouldn't beat the Giants.

LeSean McCoy Will Not Run for 100 Yards Against the Giants

4 of 50

Despite running for 217 yards throughout the first two weeks of the season, I see LeSean McCoy having a very difficult time running the ball against New York's defense.

So far this season, the Giants have limited opposing running backs to an average of 3.0 yards per carry.

New Orleans Will Beat Houston in a Shoot-out

5 of 50

Two of the league's best offenses will square off against each other this Sunday, as the New Orleans Saints will play host against the Houston Texans.

Both teams are in the top 10 in points per game, so it's almost a given that it will be a high scoring shoot-out, with the Saints prevailing.

At this point of the season, I can confidently say that the Saints are a more complete team than the Texans.

Matt Schaub and Drew Brees Will Both Throw for at Least 300 Yards Each

6 of 50

Matt Schaub and Drew Brees are two of the top quarterbacks in the NFL and will try to out-play each other's big arm this Sunday in New Orleans.

Both quarterbacks are definitely capable of eclipsing 300 yards passing, and I don't see why they won't.

Arian Foster Will Play Against the Saints but Will Not Be Effective

7 of 50

According to sources, Arian Foster's hamstring injury is a day-to-day kind of deal, but I don't see why he wouldn't suit up against the New Orleans Saints.

Foster may play in the game, but I don't see him being very effective.

Foster appeared in the team's Week 2 battle against the Miami Dolphins and was average at best before he re-injured his hamstring. Foster carried the ball 10 times and accumulated only 33 yards.

Andre Johnson Will Have a Huge Day Against the Saints

8 of 50

Throughout the first two games of the season, Andre Johnson has been spectacular as he's reeled in 14 passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns.

If the Texans want to compete against the Saints, then they're going to have to score a lot of points—most of them will likely go through the hands of No. 80.

San Francisco vs. Cincinnati Will Be One of the Most Boring Games of the Season

9 of 50

Unless you're a 49ers fan or a Bengals fan, would you have any real interest in watching this game on Sunday? I know that it does not appeal to me whatsoever, and the only way I'd watch it is if one of my fantasy players were involved.

The 49ers may be competitive in the NFC West, but they're not a good football team. The same could be said about the Bengals—they're simply not that good.

I guess this is just a battle of the scrubs.

Frank Gore Will Struggle Yet Again Against the Bengals

10 of 50

Frank Gore has had an extremely disappointing start to 2011 as he's averaged only 2.5 yards per carry while accumulating only 42 yards.

The Bengals may be a bad team, but they still have a solid run defense that is ranked 16th in the league—hey, it's better than half of the league!

I don't see Gore breaking out of his slump against Cincinnati this Sunday.

Andy Dalton Will Flourish Against the 49ers

11 of 50

Coming into this weekend, San Francisco currently ranks 25th in the league in pass defense, which means that the rookie Andy Dalton could have a big day.

Dalton has thrown for three touchdowns on the season while accumulating 413 total passing yards.

The 49ers Will Take Down the Bengals

12 of 50

You can say that the 49ers and Bengals are pretty evenly matched, but the one thing that the 49ers have that the Bengals don't is a veteran quarterback in Alex Smith.

Granted, Smith may have had his struggles, but he is still serviceable and should lead his team to victory over Cincinnati.

Chad Henne Will Struggle Against the Cleveland Browns

13 of 50

Believe it or not, the Cleveland Browns currently rank second in the NFL in pass defense with only 331 passing yards allowed on the young season.

If this continues, I don't see Chad Henne having a good day at all against the Browns.

It is critical for Henne to produce for the Dolphins this season, as it's likely his last chance at being a starting quarterback in Miami, but I don't see it happening.

Call me crazy.

Peyton Hillis Will Run All over Miami

14 of 50

You know what's pitiful? Being ranked 22nd in the league in run defense while you've only played against two teams that primarily pass the ball, the New England Patriots and the Houston Texans—how the Miami Dolphins managed a way to do it is beyond me.

With that being said, Peyton Hillis should produce in a big way against the Dolphins this Sunday.

Hillis has ran for 151 yards on the season but should increase that total by around 100.

Colt McCoy Will Lead the Browns to a Victory over the Miami Dolphins

15 of 50

Previewing this game, I can honestly say that the Cleveland Browns match up nicely against the Miami Dolphins.

They have a quarterback who's a winner in Colt McCoy, they have a running back who can pound the ball effectively and a defense that can contain Brandon Marshall and Reggie Bush.

I can see McCoy and the Browns knocking off the Dolphins this weekend.

New England and Buffalo Will Score a Lot of Points

16 of 50

Can you actually believe that the Buffalo Bills are sitting ahead of the New England Patriots in points scored? In fact, the Bills are actually ranked No. 1 in the entire NFL with an average of 39.5 points per game.

With Buffalo's average of 39.5 along with New England's average of 36.5, I can see this game turning into a shoot-out, similar to the team's 38-30 game in New England's favor last year during Week 3.

Fred Jackson Will Down New England's Throat

17 of 50

For some strange reason, running back Fred Jackson always flourishes against the New England Patriots. He does a great job at rising to the accusation.

New England currently sits at 11th in the NFL in run defense, but I can easily see Jackson having a solid day against the Patriots front seven.

I'm expecting close to 100 yards, if not 100-plus.

Tom Brady Will Throw for Four Touchdowns Against Buffalo

18 of 50

Can anyone stop Tom Brady? Well, maybe the New York Jets, but certainly not the Buffalo Bills.

Brady has completed an incredible 71.6 percent of his passes so far this season while tossing a remarkable seven touchdowns while accumulating 940 yards in just two games this season.

New England is going to score a lot of points against the Bills which means Brady is going to throw for at least four touchdowns.

Mark my words.

Tom Brady Will Enter Week 4 with 1,200 Yards Passing

19 of 50

Tom Brady is well on pace for breaking Dan Marino's single-season passing record of 5,084 passing yards as he enters Week 2 with a total of 940.

I honestly don't see why Brady wouldn't be able to accumulate 300 yards of passing against Buffalo, as he's passed for 400-plus yards in each of his last two games.

There's no reason why TB12 won't have at least 1,200 passing yards by the end of the weekend.

Ryan Fitzpatrick Will Continue His Stellar Play Against the Patriots

20 of 50

Entering Week 3, the New England Patriots sit at 31st in the NFL in pass defense—yikes!

Buffalo Bills quarterback has been putting up Tom Brady-like numbers so far this season and there is no reason why he won't rack up a ton of yards against New England's injured secondary.

Chris Johnson Will Finally Run for 100 Yards

21 of 50

At last, this is the game that all Tennessee Titans fans and fantasy owners have been waiting for.

Entering Week 3, the Denver Broncos are ranked 28th in total team defense and should have a real difficult time containing Chris Johnson.

Johnson has yet to run for 100 yards on the season—in fact he's yet to even accumulate 60 or more yards in a game.

This is a very good matchup for CJ2K.

Matt Hasselbeck Will Continue His Success in Week 3

22 of 50

Believe it or not, Matt Hasselbeck has been playing like a Pro Bowler during his first two games with the Tennessee Titans. Hasselbeck has thrown for 617 yards while tossing three touchdowns and being intercepted twice.

The Denver Broncos are a below-average ball club and should be a favorable matchup for the seasoned veteran in Hasselbeck.

Tennessee Will Enter Week 3 Tied for First Place with the Texans

23 of 50

I think the world may have been turned upside down: The Houston Texans and the Tennessee Titans will be tied for first place by the end of Week 3 with the Indianapolis Colts at the bottom of the division.

Who would have thought?

Cam Newton Will Throw for at Least 300 Yards Against the Jaguars

24 of 50

I'm sorry, Jaguars fans, but your team simply isn't that great.

Cam Newton has had an incredible run throughout the first two weeks of the regular season as he became the sixth quarterback in NFL history to throw back-to-back 400-yard games.

Playing against Jacksonville, I believe that Newton will easily cross 300 yards passing and could even make a strong case for 400-plus.

Blaine Gabbert Will Start Against the Carolina Panthers

25 of 50

According to multiple sources, Blaine Gabbert will get his first ever start against the Carolina Panthers this Sunday in favor of Luke McCown.

Sunday will be the battle of Gabbert vs. Newton, a matchup of rookie quarterbacks.

Cam Newton Will Outplay Blaine Gabbert

26 of 50

Many figured that Blaine Gabbert would be the better choice at quarterback in this year's draft, but Cam Newton has certainly made his case to why he was the first overall pick.

In Gabbert's first ever career start, I don't see it being as flashy as Newton's was against the Arizona Cardinals just two weeks ago.

Gabbert will have his rookie struggles.

DeAngelo Williams' Struggles Will Continue Against Jacksonville

27 of 50

What a disappointment DeAngelo Williams has been—he's been flat-out ineffective.

Williams has averaged a pitiful 2.5 yards per carry on 17 carries for only 43 yards. His struggles will likely continue this Sunday as he'll face off against the league's fifth best run defense in the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Matthew Stafford Will Shred Minnesota's Secondary

28 of 50

The Minnesota Vikings come into Week 3 ranking 23rd in the NFL in pass defense—this is very good news for Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions.

Stafford has thrown for a total of 599 yards on the year while tossing seven touchdowns and being only intercepted twice. The third-year starter out of Georgia will fare very well against the Vikings.

The Lions Will Shut Down Adrian Peterson

29 of 50

Fantasy owners, take note: The Detroit Lions will shut down Adrian Peterson during their Week 3 battle against the Minnesota Vikings.

A.P. may be the league's best running back, but he'll square off against a run defense that ranks 13th in the NFL.

Calvin Johnson Will Score Another Two Touchdowns Against the Vikings

30 of 50

As of right now, Calvin Johnson is well on pace to breaking Randy Moss' single-season record of 23 total touchdown receptions as he's tallied up two touchdowns in each of the first two weeks.

Granted, it likely won't happen, but I can easily see Megatron have a stellar game against the lowly Minnesota Vikings this Sunday.

The Detriot Lions Will Be Undefeated Entering Week 4

31 of 50

Who would have thought that Jim Schwartz would have had his Detroit Lions standing at 3-0 entering Week 4 of the season? I actually can honestly say that I did—I am a huge believer in the Lions.

Green Bay better watch out, the Lions are running stride-for-stride with them!

Donovan McNabb's Struggles Will Continue Against Detroit's Pass Rush

32 of 50

I don't know how many times that I'm going to say this, but Donovan McNabb should just retire and the Minnesota Vikings need to bench him for the rookie Christian Ponder.

Am I really going that far out on a limb to predict that McNabb will struggle in a huge way against the Lions' stellar pass rush?

I don't think so. In fact, if you think so, you need to get your head checked!

The St. Louis Rams Will Enter Week 4 Winless

33 of 50

It's kind of disappointing to see the St. Louis Rams on their way to an 0-3 start, but it's simply because the teams that they've faced are just very good.

This weekend, the Rams will duke it out with the Baltimore Ravens, and it could be a very long day for St. Louis—especially if Steven Jackson is unable to go.

Steven Jackson Will Not Play Against the Baltimore Ravens

34 of 50

According to sources, Steven Jackson's availability is unclear for Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens.

If you ask me, I don't see Jackson playing against the Ravens—just my gut feeling.

Joe Flacco Will Throw for 300 Yards Against the Rams

35 of 50

Coming into Week 3, the St. Louis Rams sit at sixth best in the NFL for pass defense, but I can see that changing tremendously against Joe Flacco and the Ravens.

Baltimore's passing attack has struggled throughout the first two weeks but this could be a game where they turn it around in a big way.

Mark Sanchez Will Throw for 300 Yards Against the Oakland Raiders

36 of 50

I can't believe it, but Mark Sanchez would finish Week 3 with two of his three games eclipsing the 300 passing-yard mark.

Sanchez will be squaring off against an Oakland Raiders secondary that ranks 21st in the NFL in pass defense.

New York's Running Attack Will Struggle Yet Again in Oakland

37 of 50

There's a real good chance that the New York Jets' run game will struggle for the third-straight game against the Oakland Raiders this Sunday.

The Jets currently rank 28th in the NFL in rushing yards, which is rather surprising considering that the Jets have been one of the best running teams over the past few seasons.

As I previously stated in the slide before, if Mark Sanchez throws for 300 yards, that means something is wrong with New York's ground attack.

The Raiders Will Upset the Jets

38 of 50

You ever just have a real good feeling about a game? Well, this is just one of those feelings: The Oakland Raiders will upset the New York Jets this weekend.

The Jets will be traveling to Oakland, which will be a huge factor in the game's results, and I simply just see the Raiders being more physical than the Jets this Sunday.

San Diego Will Blow out the Kansas City Chiefs

39 of 50

The Kansas City Chiefs have scored a pitiful 10 points in their first two games of the season while allowing a grand total of 89 points—the Chiefs are no match for the San Diego Chargers.

Do you really want me to go any further into this game? The Chargers are going to clobber the Chiefs, end of story.

Ryan Mathews Will Run Crazy Against the Chiefs

40 of 50

Ryan Mathews has the talent and upside to be a very special running back in the NFL, but has yet to turn his talent into skills.

Mathews should give everyone a glimpse of what to expect for years to come as he should have a field day against the league's 25th worst rush defense in the Kansas City Chiefs.

Matt Cassel Will Throw at Least One Interception

41 of 50

The San Diego Chargers have had a solid defense for quite sometime now, and Matt Cassel will have his struggles this Sunday.

Cassel hasn't been the quarterback he was a year ago this season—it's almost like it's not even the same player.

I'm putting my money on Cassel throwing at least one interception against San Diego—wait a minute, I'll make that two interceptions!

Chicago Will Struggle to Score Points Against the Packers

42 of 50

Take a wild guess why the Chicago Bears will be unable to score points against the Green Bay Packers—because of Green Bay's stellar pass rush and Chicago's putrid offensive line.

Jay Cutler is going to be on his back all day against the Packers.

Aaron Rodgers Will Throw for 300 Yards for the Third Straight Game

43 of 50

Aaron Rodgers is really making a strong case to be labeled as the league's best quarterback, as he's thrown 300 yards in back-to-back games for the Green Bay Packers.

Rodgers will square off against the Chicago Bears this Sunday and I'm putting my money on Rodgers throwing for at least 300 yards in the team's triumph over the Bears.

Kevin Kolb Will Throw at Least One Touchdown to Larry Fitzgerald Against Seattle

44 of 50

Kevin Kolb and Larry Fitzgerald connected for a touchdown last week against the Washington Redskins and I'll bet that the two connect again for a score this weekend against the Seattle Seahawks.

Kolb and Fitzgerald appear to be on the same page, which is good news for the Arizona Cardinals, as they can easily walk away with the NFC West division title.

Josh Freeman Will Throw for at Least 300 Yards Against the Atlanta Falcons

45 of 50

Josh Freeman may not put up the greatest stats, but he will this Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.

Entering this weekend, the Falcons are ranked 27th in the NFL in pass defense which means Freeman could have a field day against his divisional rival.

Falcons vs. Buccaneers is going to be a tight one that should come right down to the wire.

The Pittsburgh Steelers Will Absolutely Destroy the Indianapolis Colts

46 of 50

The Indianapolis Colts might as well not show up against the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday—I'm being serious, things will get ugly.

Without Peyton Manning, the Colts are no match against the Steelers.

Kerry Collins Will Be Sacked 5 Times Against the Steelers

47 of 50

Kerry Collins has been sacked a total of five times on the season, but that's probably going to be doubled by the end of this week as the Colts face off against the Steelers.

As Collins is likely going to be hit a lot, I wouldn't be surprised to see a Curtis Painter appearance in relief of the aging Collins.

Washington Will Enter Week 4 Undefeated

48 of 50

What Mike Shanahan, Rex Grossman and the Washington Redskins are doing, is truly remarkable.

Entering Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys, I am actually picking the Redskins to win, which means that they'll have a perfect 3-0 record—who would have thought?

The Washington Redskins aren't great at any specific aspect of the game, but they're good at every phase of the game, which makes them a tough team to beat.

Tim Hightower Will Finally Run for 100 Yards

49 of 50

The Washington Redskins have been practically feeding Tim Hightower the ball, as he's averaging a total of 23 carries per game, but has yet to run for 100 yards.

This is the week that Hightower will finally break the 100-yard marker.

If the Redskins are going to beat the Cowboys, then Hightower is going to have to run it down their throats.

Tony Romo Will Fall Flat on His Face Again

50 of 50

After losing against the New York Jets, Tony Romo really heard it from his critics the following week and bounced back with a stellar victory over the San Francisco 49ers—but Romo will fall back down again this week.

Call me crazy, but I am picking the Redskins to knock off the Cowboys this Monday night, which means Romo is certainly going to hear it from his critics all week long.
