College Football Recruiting 2012: The Most Underrated Recruits in Scout's Top 10
Yesterday, I went over a couple prospects that I felt were a bit overrated inside the the Scout.com Top 100 list. Today, we're flipping the script and going over prospects that I feel are underrated.
I watch film and highlights on a ton of prospects constantly, and with my NFL scouting background, I assemble my own rankings and big board. So it does slightly differ from others.
Here's who I feel is underrated when looking at Scout's list and comparing it to mine.
No. 5 Eddie Williams, DB
1 of 4Even ESPN will tell you Williams is underrated on Scout's list, as the Bristol giant has Williams among the Top 11 players in the country.
He's inside my Top 15, but Scout.com has him around 57th overall and only as a 4-star recruit.
Not sure what else Williams can do to get his fifth star from Scout, except be a dynamic 6'4" 205-pound ball hawking free safety prospect that's been committed to Alabama since his junior year.
No. 3 and No. 4, Kwon Alexander and Reggie Ragland, LBs
2 of 4I group these two together because Scout has the No.1 OLB prospect and the No.1 MLB prospect all the way down in the 30s, with a few players ahead of them that I have ranked below them.
Alexander is a 6'3" 210-pounder with the range of the entire state of Alabama on the field. Ragland is a huge, yet athletic 6'4", 245-pounder that hits like a freight train.
Ragland's headed to Alabama while Alexander likes the Tide along with Auburn, LSU, Florida State and Oregon.
2. Chris Casher, DE
3 of 4Here's another one that both ESPN and I have higher on our lists than Scout does at No.53 overall. He's not a 5-star player according to Scout.
I see it differently, as Casher has a 6'4", 240-pound chiseled frame to go along with excellent awareness, and fantastic instincts. He can play DE or OLB in a 40-front defense and make plays from the backside with great speed.
Casher is bound for Florida State.
1. Travis Blanks, DB
4 of 4Scout.com has Blanks barely inside their Top 100 at No.98 overall. Wow!
I really like Blanks, as a 6'1" 195-pound DB that can double as a safety and a corner. Although I think free safety may be best spot, Blanks says he wants to play on the flanks in college and has the length, speed and quickness to do so.
Blanks is the most underrated player on Scout.com's Top 100 board.
