College Football Predictions Week 4: Taking a Look at the 5 Biggest Games
Three weeks of college football have been played, and we are finally starting to get a feel for who the great teams are.
Looking ahead to Week 4, there aren't necessarily many great games, but there are a few good games that will answer a lot of questions.
Here's a look at the five biggest games to keep an eye on next week.
5. Notre Dame @ Pittsburgh (12:00)
1 of 5This may seem like an absurd statement to some, but Notre Dame is a VERY GOOD football team. They could easily be 3-0 right now.
Instead, they've beaten themselves and currently sit at 1-2. Even though Michigan State isn't a great team, it was still a nice win for the Irish last Saturday.
Looking ahead at Notre Dame's schedule, they'll probably lose one, maybe two more games.
Pittsburgh, on the other hand, who was expected to be one of the best two or three teams in the Big East, has not looked impressive so far.
They struggled to beat Maine in Week 2, and then came back and lost to an Iowa team that isn't looking to be very good.
Even though this will be a tough test for Notre Dame, look for the Irish to get the win.
4. Florida State @ Clemson (3:30)
2 of 5This is a huge game in the ACC Atlantic Division. Along with Maryland, Clemson looks to be Florida State's biggest challenger for the division crown.
Clemson did not look impressive in their first two games, as they struggled with Troy and Wofford, but then came back and beat Auburn in a thrilling game.
Whether the momentum of that game carries over to this week remains to be seen.
Even though Florida State is obviously good, their AP ranking of No. 5 last week was extremely overrated. They are barely a Top 10 team, if that. They will likely lose at least one, maybe two more games this year.
We'll learn more about Clemson this week than we will about Florida State.
If Clemson wins this game, they could put themselves in the driver's seat in the Atlantic Division, although their schedule is pretty tough down the stretch.
3. Arkansas @ Alabama (3:30)
3 of 5Can this game live up to last year's Arkansas-Alabama thriller? The chances are no.
Arkansas surprisingly struggled with Troy last week, taking away some of the hype surrounding this game.
Alabama, on the other hand, is probably the best team in the country.
This is going to seem absolutely ridiculous to some, but Arkansas has NO CHANCE to win this game. They are simply not going to go into Alabama and win.
This game may be close, and it may even come down to the final few minutes, but no matter what happens, Arkansas is not going to win.
2. LSU @ West Virginia (8:00)
4 of 5Both teams had impressive road wins last week, as LSU beat a ranked Mississippi State team and West Virginia beat a Maryland team that was on the verge of being ranked.
We'll see what happens this week when the class of the Big East goes up against one of the SEC's best.
Can the Big East finally step up and get a much-needed Non-Conference win? The chances are no.
LSU is not going to let a Big East team ruin their perfect season and hopes of a national title.
West Virginia is definitely not a great team, but because it's in Morgantown, they will certainly compete with LSU until the end.
Look for this one to be a great, close game, but for LSU to come out on top.
1. Oklahoma State @ Texas A&M
5 of 5A lot of people would have the LSU-West Virginia game as the best of the weekend, and not this one.
However, this one gets the top spot because of the impact it will have on the Big 12 race.
Texas A&M is, without a doubt, extremely overrated and does not deserve their No. 8 ranking. With the difficulty of their schedule, the Aggies will lose at least two, maybe even three games this year.
Oklahoma State, on the other hand, does deserve their No. 7 ranking, as they are a legitimate Top 10 team. The only thing that could prevent the Cowboys from competing for a Big 12 title, is a brutal schedule.
Some people say that Texas A&M's offense is one of the best in the country, but I would take Oklahoma State's offense over theirs in a heartbeat.
Justin Blackmon is the best receiver in college football, Brandon Weeden is great at quarterback, and the duo of Joseph Randle and Jeremy Smith at running back is one of the best in the nation, but does not get the media attention it deserves.
Even though I think Oklahoma State is the better team, this game is a virtual toss-up simply because they have to play on the road.
