USA Today Coaches' Poll: 5 Teams in Danger of Falling out of the Top 25
First things first, congratulations to the schools who were previously unranked who are now ranked in Week 4 of the coaches' poll.
That being said, now the bad news.
Unfortunately for some of the schools who just got ranked, as well as those who are have dropped in the rankings, not all of you are going to make it.
So who's in danger of falling out of the Top 25?
There are five teams listed for this week, check it out.
No. 18 Texas Longhorns
1 of 5To this point Texas hasn't played anyone with a winning record.
The Rice Owls, BYU Cougars, and UCLA Bruins were each of the three Longhorns' opponents thus far in 2011.
They have a combined record of 3-5, and Rice only holds a record of 1-1 which is the best of the three.
This week however, Texas travels to Iowa and plays 3-0 Iowa State.
It's their first Big 12 game this season, and the Cyclones have beaten better opponents than Texas in Iowa and Connecticut (2010 Big East Champions).
And when Iowa State takes the field, look for WR Darius Reynolds to be the play-maker as he leads the Cyclones with 240 yards receiving and four TDs.
No. 21 Michigan Wolverines
2 of 5As of right now it appears that Michigan football is back on the upswing.
Well, coming to The Big House in Week 4 are the 3-0 San Diego State Aztecs and Heisman sleeper, RB Ronnie Hillman.
And as Wolverine fans know, new head coach Brady Hoke's former team is the Aztecs, and it will be a big game.
In addition, San Diego State QB Ryan Lindley has compiled 622 yards on 44 completions, and has thrown seven TDs to only one pick.
Expect another shootout in Ann Arbor on Saturday, but this time don't be surprised if the Aztecs pull off the upset.
No. 22 Clemson Tigers
3 of 5The Clemson Tigers just won arguably one of the biggest games in school history by defeating the defending national champion Auburn Tigers 38-24 at home.
QB Tajh Boyd and company compiled over 600 yards of offense, and although the D allowed over 400 yards, they still held Auburn to a season low of 24 points.
However, coming into Death Valley this week are the No. 14 Florida State Seminoles, who are aching to avenge their 23-13 home loss on Saturday to the No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners.
Florida State has a much better defense than Auburn, and a sound offense as well.
And although they are vulnerable after the loss, and on the road, don't think for a second that the Seminoles won't be ready.
This is a big game, with ACC Atlantic Division title implications, and Clemson will have their work cut out for them.
No. 25 North Carolina Tar Heels
4 of 5Unfortunately for the North Carolina Tar Heels they travel to Bobby Dodd Stadium this week and play the No. 24 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
Obviously whoever loses this game will be unranked.
However, on the road at Georgia Tech is never easy, and with both teams 3-0 in the ACC Coastal Division, the immensity of this game will be insurmountable for both schools.
That being said, North Carolina is in a new direction with Butch Davis gone, and Georgia Tech's QB Tevin Washington has thrown seven TDs to zero picks.
The Yellow Jackets also rank No. 1 in the country right now in rush yards and points per game.
It's going to take a lot for the Tar Heels to win this one of the road, but even so, the 2011 season will be better than expected.
No. 13 Oregon Ducks
5 of 5Yes it would take a lot for the Oregon Ducks to drop from the rankings at No. 13, but after losing to LSU pretty handily in Week 1, they are a vulnerable bunch.
Also, despite the fact that they have rolled off two straight wins, those wins came against Nevada and Missouri State.
And with that, it's no surprise that the Ducks have only moved up one spot since losing to the Bayou Bengals.
This week however, the Arizona Wildcats host the Ducks, and after battling with a much better Stanford team for 2.5 quarters, Arizona can win this game.
Adding to it, the Wildcats also played the then-ranked No. 9 Oklahoma State Cowboys, and fought them tough through three quarters.
So, it's safe to say that Arizona has played formidable opponents, and has been improving.
Unfortunately for Oregon, the third time is a charm, and the Ducks fall may be worse than anticipated.
