NBA Trade Speculation: Player from Each Team We'd Like to See in Another Uniform

Jesse DorseyJun 7, 2018

Sometimes in the NBA, you just get tired of seeing a certain player in the same uniform over and over again.

Whether it be because he has been on the team for so long with no real accomplishments to his name, because he needs a fresh start or because he has caused too many problems with the team he is currently on, some players just need to get out of their current situation and move on.

Then there are those situations where it is best for both the player and team if the player were to move to another team, so long as they stand to gain a lot from that player leaving.

Still then, there are those situations where it would just be relieving, interesting or just plain hilarious to see a certain player end up getting traded away to another team.

Here I have, for your reading entertainment, a compilation of a player from every team that we think needs to be playing for another team or that would just give us enjoyment if he were to be traded.

Atlanta Hawks, Josh Smith

1 of 30

In this situation, it may be better for both the Atlanta Hawks and Josh Smith if the Hawks were to trade away Smith and move on down the road to start planning for their future.

The Hawks are in a situation where they could end up taking a huge fall in the next few seasons if Joe Johnson is on a rapid decline, and trading one of their better players for some assets that could turn into something good down the line could help them more than dragging their feet and squeezing every last drop of success out of the team they have on hand.

For Smith, it would allow him to move to a team that needs him to take the reins or put them over the top as a title contender; both would allow us to see what kind of person and player he is.

Boston Celtics, Jeff Green

2 of 30

Every time I saw Jeff Green on the floor in a Celtics uniform this past season it just made me chuckle quietly to myself.

He was a constant reminder of the terrible idea of trading away their big, mean center, Kendrick Perkins, for a passive player who has yet to live up to his potential despite years in the league.

Green will probably end up a Celtic again this season, if not for the fact that the Celtics have very little room to spend money on free agents outside their team, so this is one player that is going to continue to make me chuckle for a while.

Charlotte Bobcats, Boris Diaw

3 of 30

Boris Diaw has one year left on his contract, and as the best young player on the Bobcats, it would make sense to see him move so long as Charlotte gets some kind of value out of him.

Diaw has started to enter a peak in his career, and it's going to be interesting to see if he continues to rise, or if going to a different team is going to make him fall off, as he will be in higher competition for statistics.

Chicago Bulls, Carlos Boozer

4 of 30

As it turns out, it seems that Carlos Boozer isn't worth more than, or even as much as Chris Bosh.

All the talk surrounding Boozer last summer was that he was a player scorned when the media and Miami fawned over Chris Bosh, leaving him out to dry as a second-rate power forward compared to Bosh, and he was ready to prove himself.

Well, one huge contract, some injury troubles and the least tough season from a great power forward in ages, and it would be more fulfilling if he and the Bulls were to just part ways.

Cleveland Cavaliers, Ramon Sessions

5 of 30

The Cleveland Cavaliers got a steal in Ramon Sessions when they picked him up for some table scraps from the Minnesota Timberwolves (they gave up Delonte West and Sebastian Telfair for Sessions, Ryan Hollins and a second round pick).

However, now that it seems Sessions is blossoming into a very fine point guard, and the Cavs have drafted a point guard that they think will be a huge part of their future, it's getting to seem that Sessions would be better off if he were shipped out.

Trading Sessions now would get the Cavs the maximum out of their investment for Sessions, as his value is at an all-time high, and it would make it so we would be able to tell if he is a decent player racking up stats on a terrible team or a legitimate NBA player.

Dallas Mavericks, JJ Barea

6 of 30

I am wholeheartedly convinced that the role of JJ Barea is to come off the bench (or be inserted into a strange starting lineup) and change the pace of a game or a series.

He is a quick, pesky defender who can knife through the lane and is a huge part of why the Dallas Mavericks are reigning NBA Champions.

I really want to know if he can be more than the pace changer on a team, and I'm sure someone is going to look at him, offer him a ridiculous sum of money and he will end up being a starter on a mid-level basketball team.

Denver Nuggets, Andre Miller

7 of 30

When the Nuggets traded away Raymond Felton for Andre Miller, I thought it was a move to give some veteran presence to a young team on top of get some assets while they were at it.

The word on the street is, however, that the starting point guard job is going to end up being Ty Lawson's to lose.

Miller will still be there to be a mentor to the young player, but when you have such a good point guard coming off your bench, it's almost better for both parties if he gets traded away.

Detroit Pistons, Richard Hamilton

8 of 30

Let's face it, there isn't a more miserable player in the NBA today than Rip Hamilton.

Sure, he has a contract that has him raking in massive amounts of money and he is still a fan-favorite in Detroit, but he is just in a terrible situation.

Stuck in Detroit for two more seasons, Hamilton had to watch the great teams of the mid-2000s whittle away into a group of overpaid, under-performing, lazy basketball players who are both capable of winning enough games to keep them out of the best lottery spots, but incapable of caring enough to go for a playoff spot.

Golden State Warriors, Monta Ellis

9 of 30

The only player who has heard more rumors about his being traded since the end of last season other than Monta Ellis would have to be Dwight Howard.

Otherwise, Monta's name has been thrown around more than a football at a frat house, and for good reason too.

The Warriors seem to be changing direction (finally) now that they hired Mark Jackson; it seems as if they are going to try to focus on some actual defense in the future.

This does not play well into having Ellis the most important player on your team, so they may get the most value out of trading him.

Houston Rockets, Chuck Hayes

10 of 30

There is one thing that I just can't figure out.  How is it that a 6'6" guy going up against guys a full head, neck and shoulder above him can be such a force down low?

I want to know if the Houston Rockets played a specific style that allowed Hayes to grab eight boards a game and absolutely dominate certain players, or if was all Hayes.

If Hayes really is that good, he could become one of the best bargain options at center and could be a Boston Celtic or Miami Heat before the season gets underway.

Indiana Pacers, Danny Granger

11 of 30

For the past four years, I haven't been able to figure out what Danny Granger is. He certainly isn't a superstar yet, but is he a star? Is he a great player on an average team? Is he a guy who could be amazing with the right guys playing around him?

All of this leaves me baffled, because I see Granger do things from time-to-time that I am more accustomed to seeing LeBron James do, and it's confusing to me.

Going to another team is probably out of the question anytime in the immediate future, but it could help me make sense of what Danny Granger is.

Los Angeles Clippers, Chris Kaman

12 of 30

The scariest looking man in the league for nearly four years running now (he wins the category for natural scariness, once dominated by Dikembe Mutombo, and his voice that sounds like it should only be coming out of a man made of stone) is starting to lose importance in Los Angeles.

Chris Kaman has been blocking DeAndre Jordan in the depth chart on the Clippers for Jordan's tenure with the team, and with Jordan looking to be the center of the future on LA's little sister team, it looks like it could be curtains for Kaman with the Clippers.

Los Angeles Lakers, Andrew Bynum

13 of 30

The only reason I want to see Andrew Bynum end up on another team is because it would mean something huge and league-changing went down.

Bynum's name has been thrown around as the centerpiece of a trade for Dwight Howard, and something tells me that the Lakers could be willing to overpay to get the big man in purple and yellow, so it could end up happening and changing the whole landscape of the league.

Memphis Grizzlies, Rudy Gay

14 of 30

One of the most puzzling parts of the recent playoffs is the fact that the Grizzlies were able to upset the No. 1 seeded Spurs and nearly make their way into the Western Conference Finals without their best player on the floor.

Rudy Gay sat out the playoffs with an injury, and it makes you wonder if he was actually bringing the team down with his style of play.

There is no denying that Rudy Gay is a very good basketball player, but it could be that he doesn't play in a way that compliments, or is complimented by the team that is built around him, so it would be interesting to see what they could do without Gay leading the way.

Miami Heat, LeBron James

15 of 30

This one would be for the amusement of America and nothing else.

Imagine if whenever the lockout ends, you pick up the morning paper (more likely you grab your laptop and go to take your morning dump) and you crack it open to see a headline proclaiming that LeBron James had been traded.

Would you not fall off your stool? Would you not stare in utter disbelief for long moments? Would you not laugh uncontrollably for the rest of the day?

Nothing would be funnier than to see the Heat decide that they would be better without LeBron and then end up trading him to Orlando for Dwight Howard or even to a miserable city like Minnesota.

Milwaukee Bucks, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute

16 of 30

Besides having the coolest name in all of sports, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute is  a player that has intrigued me since he came into the league, and even before then.

Originally, it seemed as if he could become one of those wing defenders that just locks players down and doesn't let them get out of his sight, and he could still be that, but he seems to have gotten complacent in Milwaukee.

Mbah a Moute reminds me of Tony Allen, a player who bums around on a team or a few teams playing good defense but having a streaky offensive game until he is asked to step up, at which point he becomes Darrelle Revis on hardwood.

Minnesota Timberwolves, Michael Beasley

17 of 30

If I were David Kahn (and I can assure you that I am not), I would want to get rid of Michael Beasley as quick as I could.

He is at the peak of his value since he was a rookie coming into the league and his reputation hadn't sullied his name, and sometimes, it's best to bail on these types of players before things get bad.

Besides, Beasley is blocking their draft pick from this year, Derrick Williams, so it would open up room for him to start.  I mean, would you really want Michael Beasley mentoring anyone on your team to take over his position?

Didn't think so.

New Jersey Nets, Kris Humphries

18 of 30

I am totally convinced that the numbers Kris Humphries put up this year were a fraud, and he is going to cash in on a big paycheck because of it and marrying Kim Kardashian.

Humphries went from a five or six rebound a game guy suddenly to a 10 boards a night guy after getting traded to the Nets. The reason? New Jersey's center, Brook Lopez, is turning into Andrea Bargnani and putting no emphasis whatsoever on rebounding the ball, now down to just six rebounds a game.

If anyone without a weak rebounding center picks up Humphries, I am positive they will be disappointed.

New Orleans Hornets, Chris Paul

19 of 30

I have grown weary of the Chris Paul saga in New Orleans, and it seems to me that it's time for the smart point guard to move on and get a fresh start.

After dedicating himself to the Hornets and re-signing a few years back, the Hornets have gone into a downward spiral, at this point not even having an owner.

It just seems like everyone in the basketball world (who isn't a fan of the Hornets) would be a lot happier if Paul donned a new uniform.

New York Knicks, Chauncey Billups

20 of 30

It's hauntingly obvious that Chauncey Billups has no future in a Knicks uniform, but that doesn't mean he should be shipped out of the league.

Billups is too old to be a part of the long-term plans that the Knicks have, and he would be more valuable to a team who needs a scorer to win this season, or a team who needs a level-headed veteran point guard to mentor some young players.

Oklahoma City Thunder, Russell Westbrook

21 of 30

This is mainly a fantasy for me, but I would love to see Russell Westbrook given his own team to run, just to see what he is made of.

In the playoffs this year, there was a bit of a leadership clash between Westbrook and Kevin Durant, and it would be interesting to see who should actually be the leader.

Who knows, maybe Westbrook gets his own team and becomes a natural leader, milking the best out of whatever he can get from his teammates.  Or he could just fall flat on his face; either way, it would be interesting.

Orlando Magic, Dwight Howard

22 of 30

Just to get all of the "will he or won't he" business out of the way, I am dying to see Dwight Howard take off the Magic pinstripes and end up in some new colors.

Whether it be Los Angeles, New Jersey, Turkey, China or the moon, I'm just ready for all of the speculation and conjecture to come to a close.

Plus, I think it would be interesting to see if he takes off and dominates on his second team like Shaq did with the Lakers.

Philadelphia 76ers, Andre Iguodala

23 of 30

If Dwight Howard has been the man of the year in terms of trade rumors, Andre Iguodala has been the man of the decade and deserves a lifetime achievement award.

I can remember just a few seasons into his time in the league with Allen Iverson going a bit south, and in Philly, people started to talk about completely blowing the Sixers up and starting from scratch. From there, it seems like someone has been talking about trading for Iguodala since the Kennedy administration.

It's time for Philly to just go ahead and pull the trigger so we can move on to someone else to harass with trade rumors.

Phoenix Suns, Steve Nash

24 of 30

If I could rig the league so that any one player would win a championship next season, it would either be for Steve Nash to get his first or Tim Duncan to get his fifth.

Nash has been one of the most classy players in the NBA for the duration of his time in the league, and he has really been dedicated to the Suns in the past few years, so much so that it's likely that he could re-sign with them, even though they look to be contenders for the eighth seed at best (and that's just with his presence).

Nash deserves a title, but he's not going to get it in a Suns uniform.

Portland Trail Blazers, Greg Oden

25 of 30

If I could pick out one player in the league who needs (I shouldn't put in any words that sound like "knee" when talking about Greg Oden; he could get injured) a fresh start, it's Greg Oden.

Oden came into the league with the highest hopes of any big man since Emeka Okafor, and injuries have kept him from doing anything of note to this point.

The big man needs to pack his bag and go to whatever city it is in the NBA that has the best knee doctors and live in the hospital, only coming out to play basketball games.

Sacramento Kings, Marcus Thornton

26 of 30

Marcus Thornton stepped up when Tyreke Evans went down for the Sacramento Kings, and it got me wondering, is Marcus Thornton actually good?

After bumming around the league for a few years, Thornton has shown flashes of brilliance; he just can't seem to get extended periods of brilliance.

I would like to see him put on a team as a second or third option just to find out if he is for real.

San Antonio Spurs, Manu Ginobili

27 of 30

Manu Ginobili is a Hall of Famer without a doubt.  What I'm not sure about with the slippery Argentinian is whether or not he is a superstar.

If I could see Ginobili go to a team where he doesn't have Tony Parker or Tim Duncan (or the crafty management of the Spurs for that matter), could he be as good a player as he is today?

Toronto Raptors, Jose Calderon

28 of 30

Jose Calderon has given Raptors fans fits for too long, and I want to take space in this column to point out that I would love to see him leave the Raptors.

Never has a player put up stats that on the surface, look great, but even when you dig an inch under the surface, you understand why the Raptors fans can't stand another game of him running the point.

If Steve Nash is an all-offense, no-defense point guard, then Jose Calderon is all-offense and negative defense.

Utah Jazz, Devin Harris

29 of 30

I think the ship has sailed on people thinking that Devin Harris can ever get back to his peak that he came to with the New Jersey Nets.

The conditions were perfect, and the wind blew in just the right direction so that he could end up looking like a borderline great point guard, until he faltered the next season, and then two more after that.

Harris could still be good, but the Jazz could end up with a much better player running their point if they were to deal Harris.

Washington Wizards, Andray Blatche

30 of 30

OK basketball gods, Andray Blatche has tortured Wizards fans long enough; it's time for him to move on to a new team to aggravate.

Blatche is the epitome of what is wrong in the NBA today.

He is complacent on defense and a stat-monger on offense.  If he were to actually put forth some effort on defense and play offense for his team and not for himself, then he might be a good player. Until that day, he is Andray Blatche.
