Raiders vs. Broncos Monday Night: 7 Fantasy Football Players in the Spotlight
Week 1 of fantasy football is nearly wrapped up, but there are still two games on Monday night to be played.
With more options than usual after the weekend games because of an extra Monday night football game, these players can be used to put your fantasy team in the early win column against your opponent.
Darren McFadden
1 of 7Fantasy owners shouldn't be frightened about Darren McFadden's lack of preseason play because of an injury.
The Denver Broncos have added Von Miller, but he's suited for strictly pass rushing. Opposite defensive end Elvis Dumervil is small as well. Denver ranked second to last in rushing yards allowed last season and there hasn't been an upgrade in the middle of the defensive line.
The 26 rushing touchdowns allowed to opponents was worst and six more than the second place Panthers.
Expect at least one touchdown by McFadden and maybe one receiving score.
Brandon Lloyd
2 of 7According to many fantasy experts, Brandon Lloyd was overrated heading into this season.
Maybe he is, maybe he isn't. The important thing to note is that there is no Nnamdi Asomugha currently on the Raiders after the team lost him via free agency.
While Oakland ranked second best in pass yards allowed last season, the ranking will drop significantly. Kyle Orton is still Denver's starting quarterback and the two men have formed a bond that cannot be broken by Stanford Routt. There is no 6'2" cornerback like Asomugha left on Oakland's roster to stop Lloyd from connecting with Orton on a goal-line fade route.
Brandon Lloyd will have 1 touchdown grab.
Knowshon Moreno
3 of 7Speaking of bad run defenses, the Oakland Raiders were fourth worst in yards allowed on the ground in 2010.
Oakland allowed 7 runs of 40 yards or more, which was worst in the league, while being third worst in allowing runs of 20 yards or more. Willis McGahee will get the goal line carries, but Moreno will get the more important yards between the red zone.
Those yards can be counted on more than a vulture touchdown score.
Kyle Orton
4 of 7Kyle Orton is definitely the best quarterback in this Monday-night matchup, and the only quarterback to have on your team out of the two.
Oakland's pass defense was impressive last season by ranking second best in yards allowed through the air, but Nnamdi Asomugha is no longer with the team and the Raiders still surrendered 29 passing touchdowns, which was fifth worst in the league.
Expect two scores thrown by Orton with over 200 yards.
Jacoby Ford
5 of 7Jacoby Ford is a threat to score in so many ways.
He should be targeted by Jason Campbell because there's not many better pass catching options for the Raiders unless Al Davis believes Darrius Heyward-Bey can be targeted like a number one. Ford will likely see Denver's second and third best corners, meaning Champ Bailey will be elsewhere. Ford is in a prime-time game, and he should be expected to rise to the occasion.
Expect 1 touchdown from Ford.
Eddie Royal
6 of 7Another good return man, Eddie Royal has scored in multiple ways before on Monday Night Football against the San Diego Chargers, another AFC West rival.
He'll be working the slot, but he's never been the same player after his great rookie performance.
If you're low on receiver options, he's worth a shot because of his versatility. With all the returns for touchdowns, it shouldn't shock anyone if Royal takes one to the house.
Kevin Boss
7 of 7Oakland liked using Zach Miller last season, but he's now with Seattle. Kevin Boss will be utilized more than he was with the New York Giants, but he's not as talented as Miller.
With that said, DJ Williams is out for Denver and the middle of the field will be more open because of it.
Boss is a better option that whoever the Broncos are starting at tight end for Monday's game.
Update: Kevin Boss is out for week 1.
