Biggest Storyline: Will French disappoint again?
France barely escaped with a victory last time around against Romania, and will be hoping they can pick the tempo up this time around.
France is 4-1-1 in the group stages, and have not played very well to this point of qualifying. However, they still hold a one-point advantage over Belarus with a game in-hand.
Player to Watch for France: Samir Nasri
The latest acquisition for Manchester City is also one of the best players on the French side. He will likely be playing with much more confidence and excitement now that the transfer from Arsenal has finally occurred.
It was a long time coming for Nasri who was very patient during the wait, but now he has the opportunity to head back out with his French side for two very important qualifying matches.
Someone needs to step up for France, and Nasri provides France with the attacking abilities they need to be successful.
Player to Watch for Romania: Ciprian Tatarusanu
France is a much better side than Romania, which means France will likely put a lot of shots on target in this match.
Romania will need their goalkeeper, Tatarusanu, to be successful in this match if they are going to have any chance at coming away with a win or a draw.
If Tatarusanu struggles, Romania will be blown out of the water.
What They're Saying:
France coach Laurent Blanc recently spoke to that AFP about Samir Nasri and the impact he expects him to have not only with the French team, but also with Manchester City:
""He's signed for Manchester City to play."He's setting himself up for a new challenge but he has the ability to do it. The cards are in his hands.
"
""We count on him. He's very important for the France squad. The challenge could be a good thing for him and for the France team.""
Final Analysis:
Romania's strong effort in France last time won't carry over to this match. France just has too much talent for Romania to hang with them for 90 minutes.
From Franck Ribery to Samir Nasri to Florent Malouda to Karim Benzema there are too many attacking pieces in place for the French.
They should be able to put this one away a bit easier than they did last time around, but miracles have happened before, right?
Final Score:
France 2
Romania 0
