The Great Football Debate: Should Video Technology Be Introduced? Day 5
For a long time now, there has been much debate in the footballing community about whether or not to introduce video technology in professional football. There are arguments that exist for and against the issue, ranging from practicality to fairness in the game.
The 2010 World Cup provided a platform by which debate was re-ignited when Frank Lampard's shot against Germany was disallowed even though it had clearly crossed the line. Instances other than goals included Nigel De Jong's tackle on Hatem Ben Arfa also called for video review to be introduced to pick up on what the referee may have missed. Worthy cases to be answered by FIFA, but not all are convinced.

Would the introduction of video technology disrupt the flow of the game football is known so well for? We all have experienced (most have) the jubilation of when your team scores a goal. Now think about if that moment was torn apart by a decision to ensure there was no offside or whether the ball had crossed the line. It really would ruin the moment. How about the integrity of the referee? Would such technology question their ability and honesty with the whistle?
Just some things to consider. Leave your comments below and check back here for articles relating to the issue. It will be updated and your involvement would go a long way to ensuring we can come to a verdict.
