Arsenal Transfer Rumours: 7 Deals They'd Love To Make Before Deadline
Arsenal has endured a quite calamitous start to the new campaign. However, new signings could help right the sinking ship at the Emirates.
Arsene Wenger has stated he remains unabashed to spending money in the transfer window. The Arsenal boss has already brought in the likes of Gervinho, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Carl Jenkinson and Joel Campbell. All of which are relatively young, unproven players in top-level football, certainly Premier League football.
Fans at the Emirates have finally reached their boiling point after attempting to patiently wait for Wenger to make a serious move in the market while their temperature continued to rise. Arsenal supporters still have less than a week’s time to either continue getting hot under the collar or cool down to a lukewarm level.
Rest assured the French boss has yet to see the true wrath of his supporters. If Arsenal does not sign players before the transfer deadline that will have a significant contribution to the starting XI, Wenger certainly will lose what little support he still has amongst the fans.
The following slides are a list of players that could provide Arsenal with the talent, quality, and experience needed to keep this team in the race for a Top 4 finish.

1. Karim Benzema
1 of 7One thing that clearly stood out after watching the Arsenal game against Liverpool this last Saturday was the lack of support up top for Robin Van Persie. In particular, the glaring need for someone in the middle to latch on to crosses.
Ignore the lack of experienced talent that Arsene Wenger has put out onto the pitch. There were multiple occasions where the Gunners made a constructive buildup that led to shipping final balls into the middle of the box from the flanks when there was no one within 10 yards of the ball to knock it home.
Karim Benzema would pair well with Van Persie. Either player could play isolated in the striker position, sit on top of the box behind the striker, or come from the wings.
According to the Daily Mirror, Wenger applauded the Frenchman’s game and hinted at a possible move after the Real Madrid shutout back in May.
"“I think he's intelligent in his movement, I think he is capable of combining well and making a difference, and of doing individual moves as well. So, for me he's a player who's at the top level in the world.”
"
You can be assured the two clubs have discussed prices somewhere down the line this summer, but at this stage in the transfer window Arsenal’s bargaining chips have been removed. Wenger must improve his experience-famished squad and pay up to do so.
2. Sebastian Schweinsteiger
2 of 7The German midfielder has fallen on hard times at Bayern Munich. Munich’s slow start to their new campaign has made Sebastian Schweinsteiger a possible departure from the Bundesliga side after the criticism of former German great Franz Beckenbauer, according to Sport.uk.
According to the Daily Mirror, Manchester United and Chelsea had been rumored during the summer to make a pass at the midfielder, but recent whispers have Arsenal preparing a bid.
Schweinsteiger would certainly bring a new look to the midfield at the Emirates. He does not bring the flashiness or the talisman-like skills that have departed North London this past week; instead he adds World Cup and Champions League experience as a vice-captain to a relatively inexperienced squad as a defensive midfielder.
His ability to strike from distance, bag a free kick and provide quality balls will instantly impact a Gunners squad reeling for answers. Schweinsteiger brings versatility, strength, grit and guidance to an Arsenal midfield that desperately needs a fearless battle-tested leader.
The presence of the German midfielder should help Arsenal add strength to a weakened spine within the squad.
3. Yann M'Vila
3 of 7The Rennes defensive midfielder brings a skillful flare to the table. Yann M'Vila has been a target for Arsene Wenger during the past week or so, according to the Guardian. Although the likelihood of an arrival by the French midfielder in North London has been dampened, that could change overnight in the world of modern football.
Wenger has an affinity for French players and M’Vila would be no exception. Of the little film I have seen on the player there were a few things that stood out.
M’Vila knows how to control the game. He dictates the pace of the game at the top of the halfway line. His distribution of the ball places players into formidable positions and allows for the buildup to move forward at the desired rate.
The midfielder impressed during the friendly game against England at Wembley Stadium in November of 2010, showcasing his ability for all the English clubs to take notice.
Even though the Frenchman comes in at the tender age of 21, his ascending talent would be felt within the Gunners’ squad. He has drawn early comparisons to France and Arsenal great Patrick Vieria. If M'Vila can prove himself to be half the player Vieria was for the Gunners, his contributions will go a long way for the club.
4. Phil Jagielka
4 of 7The Everton defender has been linked with a move to the Emirates throughout the span of the entire summer. Arsenal supporters have been clamoring for a centre half to play alongside Thomas Vermaelen in the back.
He is a defender that can win a ball, bring a fearless style of play and provides an outstanding positional sense that should not be undervalued. He brings a no nonsense attitude to the pitch and occasionally makes a few foolhardy tackles now and then.
Jagielka will fit into the current squad at the Emirates quite well. Many of his compatriots already play for the North London side, including young English starlet Jack Wilshere.
A move to one of England's "Big Four" should see the defender raise his game to the club's standards. Those standards at the moment may seem to require less than in the past, especially if the player is under the age of 24.
Although, most importantly, Wenger desires Jagielka’s services for his potential partnership with Thomas Vermaelen. Vermaelen has established himself as one of the best centre halves in English football. Adding another top performer from the EPL at the position would provide a pair of centre halves that will have a lasting impression upon the squad’s performance for years to come.
5. Joao Moutinho
5 of 7The Portuguese maestro could be the very player that helps heal the wounds left by Cesc Fabregas as the creative force in the heart of the midfield. Moutinho brings all the tangibles that will be so badly missed by Fabregas’ departure.
Moutinho’s imaginative style of play allows his teammates to reap the rewards and ascend to a level of brilliance unattainable without the magician-like skills of the current Porto FC midfielder. He can place a ball with pinpoint accuracy measuring the weight of the pass to perfection.
His bag of tricks run as deep as Arsenal’s current problems are long. Arsenal’s campaign thus far has shown a light onto the kind of toll losing Fabregas’ ingenuity in the midfield has taken on the team’s identity.
Arsenal over the last 15 years under Wenger has been world-renowned for their passing-oriented style of play. The Gunners have lacked inventiveness and any signs of a lethal striking ability.
The addition of Moutinho would provide arguably the best replacement to fulfill the boots left by the previous world-class talent to stroll the park at the Emirates.
6. Kaka
6 of 7There have been several rumors throughout the media that the Real Madrid flop and former AC Milan superstar could try his luck in England on loan, according to the UK Metro. The Gunners desperately need an influx of quality and talent. Kaka could bring both qualifications to the struggling North London side.
Kaka made the move from the Rossoneri to Los Blancos for a small fee of £59m during 2009. Arsenal certainly does not contain the gumption to shell out anything remotely close to the figure paid by Real Madrid. However, a season-long loan option could help Arsenal gain some face back from the dreadful August thus far.
The loan deal would prove to be a profitable business deal for both sides. Arsenal gets the Brazilian forward at a reasonable fee that bolsters their attacking force and Real Madrid sends an otherwise seldom-used player to a club that could help rediscover his technical form.
Arsene Wenger would love a move for the Brazilian. Kaka is a versatile player that can play out on the flanks, at the top of the box and isolated up top as a lone striker. His partnership alongside Robin Van Persie, Gervinho, Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere could give defenders headaches throughout the campaign once they grow a sense of continuity.
Kaka would provide Wenger with the necessary world-class talent that could assimilate easily into their system at a discounted price that may save Arsenal from falling out of the Top 4.
7. Eden Hazard
7 of 7Another winger that has been rumored with a move to England is the Ligue 1 player of the year from last season Eden Hazard. Hazard has been linked with a move from his French side Lille to Arsenal on and off all summer long, and according to Fanatix, the deal could still be done.
The Belgian spark plug brings an exciting flare to his game. He hypnotizes defenders with his lightning quick step over and leaves them kicking at air with his electric pace.
The Lille winger has won two youth player of the year awards on top of his award from last season’s campaign, and that’s at the youthful age of 20. He has been tipped by several former football greats as the next superstar, including the French “magician” Zinedene Zidane.
Hazard remains one of the hottest players in the European market and that interest should only continue to magnify after he debuts on the Champions League stage this season. Arsenal could be priced out of a deal with the player if they do not finish the deal during the current transfer window.
The winger could be in for a move to Arsenal if the Gunners can shoot down the Italian side Udinese in the Champions League playoff to insure a Champions League spot.
If Arsenal fails to do so, there will be no realistic chance that the Lille winger would make a move across the English Channel.
