5 Teams That Could Use Dynamic Pro Like Jamal Crawford

Carlos SandovalJun 7, 2018

Jamal Crawford has had a solid, if quiet, NBA career. Since he was drafted, Crawford has averaged 15 points per game to go along with four assists and a steal per game.

Crawford is, first and foremost, a dynamic scorer who has a tendency to come up in big games. His veteran presence brings a steady hand to whatever team he's on, he has a high enough basketball I.Q. to round out most teams and can provide instant offense off the bench.

Jamal Crawford is now a free agent after his two-year tenure with the Atlanta Hawks. He has gotten less minutes, sure, but he's still liable for 15 to 19 points per game. Crawford may be a volume shooter – he's averaged only 41 percent from the field for his career – but he's still a solid offensive talent.

With teams always in need of solid bench scoring and a legitimate sixth man, Crawford could attract a lot of offers.

Here are five teams that would most likely want Jamal Crawford's services.

Philadelphia 76ers

1 of 5

It's no secret that the Philadelphia 76ers are absolute garbage on offense. They ranked 18th in the league in points per game and their offense was their Achilles' Heel agains the Miami Heat in their first-round playoff series loss.

Andre Iguodala is possibly their best offensive option, and that's not saying much – Iguodala isn't an awesome shooter and plays more off the ball than anything else.

Jamal Crawford could easily come in off the bench for the 76ers and provide instant offense for a team ailing in that category. Additionally, he'll provide a steady, veteran presence to one of the youngest teams in the league.

Milwaukee Bucks

2 of 5

The Milwaukee Bucks are in the same boat with the Philadelphia 76ers in the sense that the team is super young and has little to no real offensive talent outside of one or two key players.

Jamal Crawford could conceivably come in and patch things up. Pairing Crawford with new Buck Stephen Jackson would provide some awesome veteran talent and offensive know-how. The team needed perimeter offense desperately last year, especially after Brandon Jennings hurt his ankle mid-season.

Crawford could help the Bucks put up points, where the Bucks were suffering last season.

Chicago Bulls

3 of 5

This isn't exactly what the Chicago Bulls had in mind when they showed their need for a 2-guard to pair alongside MVP Derrick Rose

However, Jamal Crawford might exceed expectations.

The Bulls needed someone to alleviate the offensive pressure from Rose last season – he dominated the ball, mainly because no one else really could. He oftentimes made plays for others, but when the going got tough against the Miami Heat, Rose had no one to defer to.

Jamal Crawford is obviously a solid scoring threat that's liable to put up points, and put them up big. If he's playing off the ball, he'll get far more open shots than he did in the past ten years, and that could bump his field goal percentage way up.

Miami Heat

4 of 5

Last year, the Miami Heat's biggest problem was the lack of a steady veteran presence that could also contribute on the floor – they didn't have a perimeter shooter outside of Dwyane Wade and LeBron James, while Mike Bibby and Mike Miller were nearly useless half the time.

Jamal Crawford allows the Heat to kick out to the perimeter and work from the inside out; Crawford can't play too many minutes or he becomes a shot-jacker, and the Heat don't need to play him many minutes, either.

Orlando Magic

5 of 5

The Orlando Magic are desperate.

After a blockbuster trade that would change the shape of half of their roster, the Orlando Magic realized that they faltered on evaluating the talent they brought in. As a result, the team didn't past the first round of the NBA playoffs.

Jamal Crawford isn't the secondary superstar the team needs, but he provides enough outside scoring and ball-handling abilities to help the Magic. Crawford would benefit from having his misses rebounded by a guy like Dwight Howard, and he's smart enough to play off the pick and roll when necessary.
