Chelsea Transfer Rumours: 8 Potential Additions Who Will Bring the EPL Title
Chelsea are not the type of team to stay quiet during a transfer window. After two monster transfers in January (David Luiz and Fernando Torres), they are still looking to improve their squad.
While they have been linked to dozens of players, some rumours are more realistic than others. Obviously, not all of these players will be in Chelsea blue next year. Still, if Chelsea can lock up a few of these players, they could make a serious run at the Premier League Title.
They were unsuccessful in defending their Premier League crown last year, but Chelsea will be looking to re-claim that title this season.
Sergio Aguero
1 of 8Sergio Aguero is a fantastic striker. He can create for himself, create for others and finish around the net.
He has had a good career at Atletio Madrid, but he clearly wants out. According to sources, his asking price should drop, which would make Chelsea a contender for him once again. Chelsea are determined to find another striker, and Aguero could be that man.
If Chelsea can transfer Aguero in, they will instantly have one of the most dynamic striker combinations in the league (Aguero and Torres/Drogba/Anelka/anyone left at the Bridge). Any time you can score goals in bunches, you will have a chance to win matches.
Radamel Falcao
2 of 8With the arrival of Andres Villas-Boas, many are assuming that he will bring some of his Porto players with him.
Radamel Falcao is among the rumoured players. He is a dynamic scorer (16 goals in 22 league matches last year) and helped lead Porto to the Europa League Championship. While the Premier League is a different animal than the Portuguese Liga, goal-scoring is something that can transfer to all levels.
Chelsea feel they need a new striker in order to overtake Manchester United. In their quest for a striker, the Blues have no reason to look further than Villas-Boas' former star: Falcao.
Kaka
3 of 8In May, Kaka seemed determined to re-unite with his former boss, Carlo Ancelotti. Now, however, Ancelotti is gone.
So where does that leave Kaka? While his mother excited everyone over a tweet about London, nothing has happened yet. As the summer drags on, we could see the talks heat up. Chelsea are looking for creativity, and Kaka is one of the most creative midfielders in the world.
We'll see how it plays out, but I think Kaka to Chelsea is more serious than people may believe. Depending on who Chelsea sells (Drogba? Anelka? Malouda? Essien?), Kaka could be wearing a Chelsea jersey in the fall.
Romelu Lukaku
4 of 8Romelu Lukaku has drawn comparisons to current Chelsea striker Didier Drogba. While that is pretty high praise for an 18-year-old, Lukaku has people that excited about his ability.
The Belgian international has scored nearly 40 goals in his two-year stint at Anderlecht. Next season, he is hoping to score at least a dozen goals for the Blues. He has the ability to be a top striker in a top league and, if Chelsea can make the move, I expect Lukaku to make an instant impact.
The move appears close—if it's completed soon, a lot of changes could start happening at Stamford Bridge.
Luka Modric
5 of 8Luka Modric was a monster for Tottenham Hotspur last season. Now, with Spurs falling out of the Champions League, he wants out.
He has admitted that he "would like to go to Chelsea," which sounds great to me. The Croatian international is a great midfielder and he could fit well into Andres Villas-Boas' style of play.
Modric can do a lot of things on the pitch and Chelsea would love to bring him to Stamford Bridge. Within the next month, I wouldn't be surprised if the move happened.
Joao Moutinho
6 of 8Joao Moutinho seems to be the perfect match for Chelsea. He's young, creative and familiar with Andres Villas-Boas.
Plus, Villas-Boas seems like he wants to bring some of his stars with him. Still, with such a huge price tag (£62 million), it could be tough to bring both Moutinho and Falcao in. Then again, with the deep pockets of Roman Abramovich, anything is possible.
By adding such a creative midfielder, Chelsea will make another move towards a new identity as a creative club. In doing so, they could find themselves one step closer to the top of the table.
Neymar
7 of 8How much more can Chelsea fans say about Neymar? He is one of the quickest, most dynamic young players in the world. Why wouldn't Chelsea want him?
Well, maybe it's the £40 million price on the Brazilian. Even though Chelsea have some of the deepest pockets in the world, they seem reluctant to make the offer to Santos.
Neymar has been at the top of their target list for almost six months now. At the end of the day, I think Roman Abramovich is simply too stubborn to let him go. I think Chelsea will offer the asking price and win the Neymar race.
Gregory Van Der Wiel
8 of 8Gregory Van der Wiel is a young fullback who could really make an impact for Chelsea.
An attacking fullback is always a great addition to a squad, and Van der Wiel is slowly becoming one of the best right backs in the world. The Dutch man seems happy at Ajax, but a move is not out of the question. Even though talks have stalled, there is a good chance Chelsea make a move for Van der Wiel.
Chelsea need to get younger. They are intent on finding new, exciting players, and Van der Wiel fits that bill. With these new, young additions, Chelsea have a good chance of re-claiming their Premier League Title.
