Notre Dame Football: Michael Floyd Has Reached a Plea Agreement

Connor KillorenJun 29, 2011

Suspended Notre Dame receiver Michael Floyd appeared in a South Bend court this morning concerning his drunken driving citation.

On the advice of his attorney, William Stanley, Michael Floyd pleaded guilty to one count of operating while intoxicated.

He will be placed on administrative probation for one year.

His driver's license will also be suspended for 90 days.

Michael Floyd's attorney asked that the suspension allow for his client to travel to classes and practices, but the judge determined that the only exception is a restricted license for employees to travel between their home and place of work.

William Stanley spoke with reporters from the South Bend Tribune after the hearing.

"

“He went through his counseling at Notre Dame. He actually did over 30 hours of community service voluntarily with a youth group in Minnesota when he went home for the (semester break in May), and I got a very nice letter from the director of that program. (Floyd) talked to young kids about the importance of academics and lessons of life that he’s learned.”

"

In an article I wrote yesterday concerning Michael Floyd, it has been made public that Brian Kelly is encouraged by the progress his star receiver has made.

He had a few more things to say about when and if Michael Floyd will be reinstated.

"

"I don't have a date. He's fulfilled the first part and he's made a decision to change his life."

"

Michael Floyd simply has to stay on the straight and narrow.

If he continues to do that, then he will be strapping up for one more season in South Bend.
