2011 Gold Cup: Tim Howard Upset at Spanish Post-Match Ceremony
Following the 4-2 defeat last night, U.S. goalie Tim Howard had a right to be upset. The poor defensive performance that he and his back line put in squandered a 2-0 lead in the first half.
In the postgame interview, he decided to take his frustration out on CONCACAF.
ESPN.com reports Howard took exception with the fact that the trophy presentation ceremony was conducted in Spanish:

Though you can see where Howard is coming from, his logic is faulty. The reports yesterday were that the stadium was about 80 percent Mexican fans and 20 percent U.S. fans. If they were in Mexico City that number would be even more heavily skewed towards Mexico. It does not make sense to do something in a language that a vast majority of the intended audience will not understand.
Howard is a passionate player. He is very animated on the field, and he takes goals scored against him very personally. Had it been any other time, the Everton No. 1 would have probably been smart enough to think it but not say it publicly. Now he has potentially cast himself as a sore loser and stereotypical egocentric American.
Now that he has, what is your opinion on his comments and the fact that trophy presentation ceremony was conducted in Spanish?
