Arsenal Transfer Rumours: Alvarez, Samba, Barton, Cahill, Bendtner and Others

The Gunners's fans expected an active summer transfer window. Till now, there has been no major transfer made by Arsene Wenger with Carl Jenkinson being the only signing made by Wenger. Wenger has been on the lookout to add talent and experience for his squad in this transfer window.

There seems to be no money constraint for Wenger as the Arsenal board has allowed him to spend a huge amount(rumoured to be around £60 million) for transfers. The fans are still wondering what has kept Wenger from making any major signings for so long. 

With the preseason friendlies starting in July, Wenger would like to finish his transfers soon so that he can have his full squad for the pre-season matches.

Here are news about some players rumoured to join the Gunners and some set to leave. 

Samba Wants To Move to Emirates

Arsenal have been linked with a lot of defenders in this transfer window, as Arsene Wenger has been on the lookout for defenders since that position posed a problem for the Gunners last season.

Samba, who has been evaluated at around £12million, seems to be the front-runner for that position as he has a good premier league experience.

Samba had recently stated that he was ready to leave Blackburn for a bigger club, thereby hinting at his willingness to join the Gunners.

According to the Mirror, Samba has asked Blackburn to let him leave for Arsenal.

Bid for Douglas Costa Rejected

Arsenal's bid for Shakhtar Donetsk's attacking midfielder Douglas Costa has been rejected, according to Costa's agent Cesar Bottega. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been looking out for attacking midfielders in the transfer market to add depth to the squad and also as a replacement for Samir Nasri (in case he does not sign a contract and leaves Arsenal).

According to ESPN Soccernet, Arsenal made a bid involving midfielder Denilson in a player-plus-cash deal to get the services of Costa, but Shakhtar Donetsk are not interested in Denilson and want only money.

Falcao Rumored To Join Chelsea

Arsene Wenger's transfer target Radamel Falcao is set to join Chelsea, according to a Goal.com report.

Falcao, Porto's striker, was linked to Arsenal as he was one of the best forwards in the world. 

The Columbian hitman has been linked with a move to the Blues since it emerged that Villas-Boas was bound for the Stamford Bridge hot seat, and the latest comments from the 25-year-old will do little to dampen those claims

The striker's agent, Jorge Mendes, has reportedly informed the Blues that Falcao is interested in a move to England, and they are expected to make their official move for the player in the coming days.

Bolton Invite Bids for Cahill

According to The Sun, Bolton Wanderers's boss Owen Coyle has invited offers from Manchester City and Arsenal to get the services of center back Gary Cahill.

Cahill, who is evaluated at around £17 million, has been linked strongly to the Gunners as Arsene Wenger has been on the lookout for defenders. Wenger tried to reduce the asking rate of Cahill by including Ignasi Miquel in a loan deal, but Bolton seems to be less interested in that bid.

According to the Mirror, Spurs have joined the race to sign Gary Cahill. Harry Redknapp has joined the race to sign Gary Cahill and is prepared to offer Sebastien Bassong or Younes Kaboul as part of a £17million deal.

Borussia Dortmund Not Interested in Bendtner

At the start of this transfer window, Nicklas Bendtner handed a transfer request to Wenger, which was accepted by him. 

Bendtner complained of lack of playing time at Arsenal and was interested in moving out of the Emirates.

Bendtner's father, who is his agent, had earlier revealed that several Bundesliga clubs were interested in Bendtner. Rumours also stated that Borussia Dortmund were interested in the 23-year-old Striker.

But according to ESPNSTAR.com, Borussia Dortmund are not interested in Bendtner. It is to be seen that any other club is willing to provide an escape route for Bendtner from the Emirates.

Arsenal Tracking Bayer Leverkusen Superkid

Reports from Tribalfootball.com have stated that Arsenal have been tracking Bayer Leverkusen's superkid Samed Yesil.

The Germany U17 attacker has caught the eye of Arsenal scouts thanks to his exploits at youth level.

Wenger has been seriously criticized for his youth policy, and it is to be seen whether he will buy another youngster following the signing of Carl Jenkinson.

Another report from The Sun has stated that ARSENAL are heading the chase for £3.5million-rated Swedish teenager Alexander Milosevic.

Alvarez Already an Arsenal Player?

Palermo are also in the chase to sign Velez Sarsfield's attacking midfielder Ricky Alvarez, according to ESPNSTAR.com.

Ricky Alvarez was the first player to be linked to Arsenal in this transfer window, but no news about the transfer was available for the past few weeks.

According to Goal.com, Gunners have reignited their interest for the attacking midfielder, who is valued to be around £12 million.

A recent report from The Mirror has claimed that Arsenal have already signed Ricky Alvarez!

I don't know which report to believe. If Alvarez is already signed, then I would be happy that Wenger has been really silent about his signings in this transfer window.

No Bids Received for Barton

Joey Barton (on the final year of his contract) was not offered a new contract by the magpies and hence will leave on a free transfer next season.

Rumours said that Arsene Wenger, looking for talent and experience in the transfer market, was interested in Barton and bid for him.

According to ESPNSTAR.com, the Magpies have not received any bids for Joey Barton yet.
